I want to test my pcv valve under boost. Is there anyway I can get the turbo to boost by reving the engine under the hood?

I recently blew out my dipstick, I did a leakage test and my intake valves are sticking open a little so that would mean boost is getting in there when it shouldnt be right? Causing excess crankcase pressure.

My valve cover breather works fine, I pulled the pcv valve, I can blow through it easily, I also pulled the hose that goes from the pcv to the intake. I make sure it and both fittings where not clogged.

So, basically i want to have the engine under boost just for a second to see if the pcv blows off excess crankcase pressure. But being as there is boost in the intake that will keep the pcv from opening wont it? So my intake valves sticking open is what is causing excess crankcase pressure?

I was thinking the same thing Doug. I am in the same boat as you with the A/T though. Only problem is I CAN'T spool my turbo by braking, so I was going to mess around with it and see if I can get it too help any.

Oh yeah, no problem. My car builds 25 psi at 4500 rpm stutter with quasi-anti-lag (timing retard).

Damn thats crazy the second car.. I have not got my EMS setup yet but I sure hope it does that LOL... My stutter is via MSD right now. In a month I'll post a video of stutter with AEM on my car and see if it's crazy ass like that...

Woot woot.

great vid kpt and to all. i just wanted to comment that ur server is awesome. i was dling at 650k/s.

, my car can move with the ebrake, I mean shit I can launch with it! :(

Yeah, it loves it!:D

Antilag is hell on turbos. Stutterbox isn't that bad, and nobody really does it enough to do real damage.

I use my eprom stutterbox and I love it.

Only real concern I have it setting it higher in the rpms (5500, 6000) and building boost with all that fuel cut. I'm not too intense on the subject, but I'm just curious as to how bad it really is.

I guess as kpt said, no one really does it enough to hurt anything.

On the eprom chip, you can powershift the car via a 3rd rpm limiter (set at 6500rpm). This cuts fuel also, but you're at full boost (20-21psi for me) and this just seems like it would be hell. Any input?

when i have my car in neutral and rev it i cant make any boost it goes up to 0 and falls back down.. it does make 10 lbs of boost while driving tho what would cause this?? my boost gauge only reads 10 inches of vacuum at idle so i know theres a vacuum leak would this cause it.. any help would be appreciated thanks.

you only make boost under load, so while in neutral the drivetrain isnt creating load so there's no boost

I'm going to have to disagree with that one . . . If my memory serves me correctly, I can make roughly 5-10 lbs of boost while in neutral. I'd go double check right now, but it's late and I doubt my neighbors would appreciate it :p But then again . . . I do have a T25 and they spool up pretty quick.

I'd go ahead and get your vacuum leaks fixed and see what you come up with :thumb: good luck!

the only times ive ever heard of boost building in neutral was with a stutterbox, or with an automatic, due to the torque converter adding slight load to the engine.

You mean like building and holding boost? That I can understand, but if I just rev up and check my peak-hold . . . I've definitely built up boost (although it doesn't last long)

uhh, you build zero boost when free reving

you might get up to zero vacume.. but no boost

stock boost meter is RPM based,, not very accurate (same with most low end ones)

This is incorrect autos have been known by many to build a little boost in neutral caused by the load from the torque converter. Stutterboxes do this as well.
