I want to test my pcv valve under boost. Is there anyway I can get the turbo to boost by reving the engine under the hood?

I recently blew out my dipstick, I did a leakage test and my intake valves are sticking open a little so that would mean boost is getting in there when it shouldnt be right? Causing excess crankcase pressure.

My valve cover breather works fine, I pulled the pcv valve, I can blow through it easily, I also pulled the hose that goes from the pcv to the intake. I make sure it and both fittings where not clogged.

So, basically i want to have the engine under boost just for a second to see if the pcv blows off excess crankcase pressure. But being as there is boost in the intake that will keep the pcv from opening wont it? So my intake valves sticking open is what is causing excess crankcase pressure?

Ok, don't panic, this is not another 'how do i get my car to make that cool sound' question.
Rather, i have found something quite odd. Heres my question: is my recirculated blow-off valve(Type RS) supposed to 'blowoff' while in park on in neutral and just reving the motor?

I ask this because, i have two friends with the same exact blow-off valve, also recirculated, and when they rev their cars, you can hear it 'blow off'. Are our cars supposed to 'blow-off' just by reving the motor?

For clarification, my two friends' rides are:

Friend 1 : 99 Nissan Sentra SR20DE ( the non turbo engine, but:) with a add on turbo kit
Friend 2 : 98 Toytota Supra TT

Im not trying to get my car to 'blowoff' while revving, rather, i just want to make sure my setup is, well setup correctly. Do our cars 'blow off" while just revving the engine when recirculating?

Yea, even with a large turbo mine does it too... People have pulled up next to me and asked me to rev it and make it blow off...guess they think it's cool. kinda flattering in a way too i guess

Ok. if mine doesnt blow off, then did i hook up something wrong? or am i just not boosting high enough, as i am "de tuned" because i havent got the fuel upgrades to 'backup' the increased air flow??

Buschur Racing Hi-Flow Catalytic Converter Greddy SP Full Cat-Back Exhaust Greddy TDO5H/18G Turbo Upgrade Kit Greddy Turbo Timer Greddy Type RS Blow off Valve Greddy Upper IC Pipe Kit Blitz BLM Boost Gauge Injen Intake ACT Streetlite Flywheel ACT 2100 Clutch

is what i have in it so far? im only set around 7-10 psi, not sure which...

ok i see, what you mean, but i hooked the type rs as per the Greddy Instructions, can you maybe point me in the direction where i can see a diagram of a properly hooked up blow off valve or something of the sort, but the tee goes to my wastegate i believe

So you eliminated the BCS, but don't have a manual boost controller?

If so, I'd say build/buy a manual boost controller. If you don't want to do that, install a nipple on the compressor housing (it may have come with a spot for one) or drill/tap and install one on the lower intercooler pipe close to the turbo outlet. There are even some out there made for the coupler (FTG-QuickTap-CompHSG: atpturbo.com) between the outlet and the lower intercooler piping.

The only way to create boost is if their is a load on the engine. Using a studder box feature can provide this. Their are many ways, from Ignition systems (Like the one JNZ has on sale now), to DSMLink, to DSMChips, to AEM EMS. In stock form I do not believe their is anyway to create this affect, besides brake boosting in gear.

I just redid my clutch and I have the car completely off the ground on jacks stands. Was just going through the gears to see if everything was working ok with the new clutch and I noticed that the car wouldn't really build boost? Is this normal? Does there have to be a load on the engine or something?

I did a boost leak test and found no leaks.

There has to be a load on the engine in order for it to build boost. Please mark this thread as resolved.

Or you could just mark this thread as "Don't try this at home"!

As the others already stated yes there has to be a load on the engine.

BTW: I got my car up to 160mph on the jack stand before it started shaking like it was about to fall off....thats when I quit of course.

Why is jumping off of the top of a tall building bad, other than the sudden stop at the bottom.

How many reasons do you need?

LOL this thread is hilarious.
Jackstands aren't made for top speed runs in the air. What would possess you to take a risk like that?

I can see the headline now...

Man crashes car through garage wall. Garage and car totaled.

Then the next post on here...

"I'm parting out an Eclipse. Front end is toast, but the interior is fine. Only small (blood) stains."

Hahaaaa. Could have saved yourself a boost leak.
