would this be too much weight for my car? [Merged 5-7] hitch towing trailer

right now I plan on selling my 95 RS with a few mods to get a 1st gen GSX or GST. My question is, is it possible to tow a small trailer for my dirtbike with one? The max weight of the trailer and bike combined would be around 500 pounds at most. My only other option is to buy a truck which would be really lame.

They are right, its your car. do as you wil, but its just wrong to have anything 2 door that doesn't have a truck bed pulling a car. Atleast you have. Some tourqe to back it up. But I've seen a 93Mazda rx-7 with a hitch on it. I almost cried.

If someone gave me $150 to buy the hitch, I'd have one on my car by now. I was actually going to order one today (still debating on it), but the wiring for my crank position sensor decided to wander into my timing belt. Not the worlds cheapest repair.

They never came from the factory with one. It was an aftermarket add-on. They float around on ebay every once in a while. I had a neighbor that had one. He had one of those dual bicycle racks mounted on it.

I actually have a hitch for a 1g. It came on a friends car it was the funniest looking piece. To bad i didn't take any good photo's of it on the car.

As long as you keep it in the right gear, you will be fine. About one gear lower than normal should be enough to keep your drivetrain from working too hard.

A 20min trip in flat Florida to the lake and a couple of tows up the boat ramp doesn't seem like that big a deal to me. Good luck towing that thing up some of the steep grades around here to the Columbia River, or worse, down them...that boat will be driving the car.
