would the code p1500 effect performance?

Ok so I recently got my 95 talon running and I got issues with the car where it seems a little slower than it was at first I did a search and found that the CEL code is p1500 has to do with the altenator, the car seems to be running rich and doesn't have as much power. the car seems to hit a wall at around 12 pSI sometimes itll hit 15 then does what would seems like a fuel cut.

The altenator works but seems to take a few seconds to start charging so I am thinking it is the problem but if it isn't the reason my performance is hurting then I will look elsewhere for that issue and replace the alt. when it doesn't charge anymore

Yeah I think it has some issues but it is charging (just takes a few moments to do so) and my car idles correctly. i should mention this is a 6 bolt swap. like i said I just want the car to be a little quicker which I feel is possible with the upgrades done. I am gonna have the spare altenator rebuilt that I have but I was hoping this wasn't the reason for the power loss. I guess I need to install the 550's and see what happens.
