would like a little help with the inside of ecu

Hi guys i was wondering if any of te members on here are good with the 2g ecu's to the point they know what everything on the motherboard's function is. im having a problem with my car that it wont start and wont even crank. all the interior lights come on but when i crank the key all i here is the fuel pump. i swithched ecu's and it worked for a couple days then started to do the same symptom no start no crank. i opened up the ecu and noticed there was a burnt little black square component inside that was on both of the ecus i tried. but before i tried the second ecu i opened it up and it wasnt burnt it was perfect. so i have included a pic and hope that someone will be able to help me figure out what is causing this little black component to burn out and give me this symptom. thanks jason heres a pic. copy and paste please

eh if it wont even crank i dont think its the ecu, probably battery or starter or starter wiring

the thing is it keeps burning something in the ecu like a hot wire is touching ground or something?

my bad i read it too fast and missed the part whare it worked for a bit then the ecu blew, the pic in your link dosent work for me, but even if it did i doubt i could help much, sorry

Post another picture of the ECU please. that one is a broken image link. Typically if your ECU is being fried it's being fried by a sensor that's shorting out. You need to trace everything back before you fry another ECU.

i think i might have a fried ecu. Not really sure because i havnt taken the time to actully look at it but i had a short in the electrical and keept blowing the ignition fuse and while trying to find the short on time there was no blown fuse but the guagues dont turn on any more. Is there some place i can seen the ecu to get it possibly fixed? Im thinking a new ecu for a 96 gst would cost alot if even possible to get.

Not so much with 2G ECU's since I don't have a 2G to play with.

I only have pictures of the '95 EPROM ECU's I've worked on and that's not one.
I'd have to sit down with it to figure out what caused it to fail. I can't do anything with that picture except tell that it's the same layout.
