I was gone for a day and when i got back i started my car, It started just fine, pulled it out of the garage and started trying to put on the body kit. Gave up on the kit and put the orig. body back on. at 6am my mom told me i was in the way of her car, so she tried to start it, it would not start it, tries to start but wont turn over completely. any help will be appreciated!

Definitely do a test for spark at the plugs. Remove one of the plug wires from a plug and hold it near grounded metal. (If the plug end has a long insulated shroud, you may have to improvise to get ground close enough to the end of the wire.) Have someone crank the engine while you watch for spark. If you get an 1/8" or so of spark, that should be enough to fire.

Check the distributor cap inside for signs of cracks or carbon arc tracks.
Also, check to see that the little carbon contact for the center terminal is in place; without that you can have spark but it won't get to any plug wires!

It's rare, but a rotor with an internal short or carbon tracks on the surface can kill the spark before it even gets to the cap.

if no spark is there then that would narrow it down to a ignition problem, if spark is present than move on to fuel and check that out, if there is no fuel that would narrow it down to a fuel system failure, have you checked ALL fuses and such, if you are truely not sure on how to do both of those than here is a quick way to find out, spray starting fluid in the t-body and then crank it, it should pop off if there is spark, if it dont than pull the plugs and check em, but that is what i would do.

turn the key to on position and you should be able to hear the pump from the back turn on..
FP's don't kick on until the motor is being cranked... Okey, he's got a 1.8 (thought he had the 2.0L),which makes all the diff in the world.

Here's a good test then: pull off the intake hose, shoot some starter fluid, or even WD-40 in the intake hose, hit the key and see if it will fire. If it catches, it could be fuel related.

you need to do a compression test...sounds to me you may have bent valves/timing off...theres no compression to that motor.

nopt being an ass but just to let you know since i guess you dont know...thats a 4g37, and the 4g37 motors are Non-interference. so no bent valves.

It sounds like to me....

A:Jumped\180'd Timing
B:Zero Spark on all 4 cylinders. (will still start with only 1 spark plug working)
C: No Fuel

heres how i check if im getting fuel..

on the Distributor, there will be a small bolt, that bolts the dizzy to the block. Loosen it. you should be able to twist the Distributor back and forth now. turn the key to the on position so everything powers on and leave it like that, now go back to the distributor and turn it back and forth, you will here the injectors shoot fuel into the engine. if you do it all right, and you dont hear anything, your not getting fuel.

and Stop telling him its his ECU. that rarely happens to 4g37's. and thats also what fuses are for.

just check all of your plugs and connectors.

if that doesn't work, do a compression test, that will help you find out of you have jumped your timing..

it could also be your dizzy rotor.

you might need new spark plugs\wires

something you may have unplugged when you were putting your ricer, i mean body kit on

some one may have messed with your spark plugs and now the firing order is off.

and BTW kick starting by running down the hill and popping the clutch is only for when your battery is dead or you have a bad starter. it wont work if your not getting fuel or spark, or have a loss of compression.

u got a junky motor i would check for fire if u have fire i would check for fuel. i have had vehicles start fine and run great then when turned off the fuel pump stuck. if u have fire and fuel then i would check the timeing at the timing belt cause it sounds like you have no compression in the video and i have seen timing belts and chains jump time when engine is turned off because of back lash. also its un likely but a broke cam could give u the prob ## havin. i had a 1.8 for 3 years. i bought i blowed with the car. i replaced it locked it up rebuilt it machine shop ####ed me it spun a balance shaft berring so i said #### it and got a early 92 modle 6 bolt nonturbo 4g63 the best thing i done
