So I recently put a motor in my 98 GST. Everything went fine until I tried to start it yesterday. All the lights, fuel pump, ect come on but the starter will not roll over. I've checked and double checked all my connections and everything looks right. Also every time I hook the battery up the 100A alternator fuse blows. It seems like i have a short to ground somewhere but cant find one at all. Has anyone had this problem? Please shoot any ideas. I have a buyer lined up for the car and need to get it running ASAP. Thanks in advance. :thumb:

Check the positive cable that runs from the battery to the main harness for breaks/cuts. Also, check the fat positive cable that runs from the battery to the starter. My guess is that one of the wires are shorting out causing your problem.

trouble shooting electrical issues isn't difficult. It just takes time, patience and a digital volt meter.

I'm normally not bad a trouble shooting electrical, but this is getting frustrating. They are both fairly simple circuits, yet I can't find the issue. The thing that's really messing with me is blowing the ALT fuse. Why would I be pushing current towards the ALT? I'm starting to think that my fault is somewhere in the power line from the ALT to the fuse box

I'm thinking the wire from the fuse box to the ALT has a short in it. My teacher suggested that I disconnect the ALT completely and see if it'll still blow the fuse. I know it's something simple but it's kicking my ass. Looking a the schematics on alldata and the only common point between the starter and the ALT is the battery.
