I bought 3 electronic gauges (boost, egt, oil pressure). I have the instructions, but im not real sure where to tap in for acc, 12v ignition switch, and parking lamp. any detailed help would be much appreciated! Thanks!

You're going to want to get your hands on a wiring diagram for the car first. I tapped into one of the fuses in the interior junction box for the switched 12v and tapped into the radio's wiring harness for the constant 12v and illumination wire.

So, who has a wiring diagram they might want to share?

Depends where you're wiring them in? I used the wire for the cig lighter. It's a 12v acc and what many of us use to tap in that area. I just wired them in the other day and used a spade connector, so that I can remove the center console and not have it hard wired in.

hmmm, i thought i read somewhere that using the wire from the cigarette lighter isnt always recommended, but i saw on rre's site that they actually did use it. Where else did you wire in your gauges?

I have been working on getting these installed and have yet to get it right. ive followed the directions to get them to work white during the day and orange at night...all attempts unsuccessful...I called prosport and was told that if i want them to be orange at night, i need to hook them to the headlamp wire. What are they referring too?

t the radio the wires are

Radio 12v
orange/black

radio

Radio Ground
Radio Ignition white/black + radio
Radio Illumination green/white + radio

and under the dash all the wires are

Constant 12V+ White Ignition Switch Harness

Ignition 2 Blue Ignition Switch Harness
Accessory Blue/Black Ignition Switch Harness
Tach Black/Blue Or Blue/Black Coil Pack (2 Cylinder Setting)

Windows Down LF=Green/Black, RF=Green/Yellow

ok, its telling me to hook the orange wires (which would make it amber at night) to the headlamp switch. i tried hooking it to the tail lights (since they come on when the lights are turned on) but that didnt work. the white wires are suppose to be to a constant 12v source so they are white during the day. white is no problem, but the orange at night is causing me major issues! How would you do this

Black –Ground
Red - 12v ign. power-meaning power when the ignition is on.
White- 12v ign. power
Orange-Headlight switch.
Green - Sender
those are the wires for the gagues soooo
take the orange wire and touch it to the red or white wires with the car on and if it lights up amber then you need to find a good illumination wire or yuo could have a blown fuse.
Another question how do you know what your hooking it up to? just by color or are you testing with a dmm or god forbid a test light?

dmm? i am using a test light, but i can stop if you have a better way.

maybe im just not asking the right questions:i want the gauges to be lit white when the lights are off and orange when the lights are on; How do i do that and where should i be picking up the wires to make the connections?

I have seen that and it really doesnt help me in this case...BUT, i really appreciate your effort! Thanks again!

okay did you try to take the orange and touch it to the red or white wire? test light is fine in a 1g but a 2g is kinda sketchy if your just poking wires. a dmm is a digital multimeter and they can be had for 10 bucks at vatozone or harbor frieght or sears and they tell you exactly what is happening.

okay, so im finally finding some time to work on the car, but now need a little help. For the electronic oil pressure sender, i have a wire that goes to the gauge and a 12v-; what should i use in the engine bay for the 12v- ?

Question 2:
the boost gauge sensor has a ground, sender wire, and a 12v+; what should i be using for the 12v+

i just spliced my wires into the cruise control and fog light illumination wiring, got both lights and was easier for me to route through with vacuum and wires for oil press down and through the steering boot.

It's time to pay someone to install those for you. With questions like these, you're doomed.

the sensors/sending units should connect directly to the gauge itself.

the wiring will depend what series gauges you have. are the gauges peak/warning/premium?

I never use the dimmer switch or connect to any factory wiring, I've always used the spare outputs from a turbo timer harness there is usually at least a 12v ign and 12v constant right off the TT harness. This makes for a clean/easy instaillation.

I know that with my pro-sport gauges (premium peak/warning) you have to connect the red to constant 12v for memory, and I would assume this would also be the case for any of their electronic gauges but I could be wrong.

my gauges
orange 12v ign
red - 12v constant
black - ground
white - not used

Old thread, I know, but I am having a similar problem.

I cannot get my Prosport Premium electronic boost gauge to light white during the day, and amber at night. It is wired like so:

Red- constant 12v from fuse box
Black- Chassis ground
Orange- cig lighter light
White- mirror switch. This is the light green/blue wire tested with my test light to have power when the key is in acc position.

With it set up like this, it will not power on with the acc at all. My lights have to be on for it to work. When I turn the lights on it will power on white, if I disconnect the white wire, it switches to amber.

If I swap the white wire to the cig lighter and the orange to the mirror switch, it powers on white with acc. If I disconnect the white wire again, it switches to amber with acc.

If I put white on the mirror switch alone, it does not power on with acc at all. If I put orange to the mirror switch alone, it powers on amber with acc.

What the hell do I have wrong? This makes no sense to me.

Stm sells fusees, ahh what the hell are they called. There fuses with the power wire lead connected to them.It makes wiring gauges stupid easy, rather than tapping into the fuse with a wire.If the gauge is wired to the lights then you will need the lights on for the gauge to light.Maybe look into wiring it to the radio fuse,or something else. Some tho will drain the battery being wired into,so keep a lookout on that.

I used a spade pin to tap into a constant hot empty fuse location. So I don't think that is the issue. It seems to me that it is an issue with the white wire. Touching the white wire to a location that has power with acc will not make it light white, but touching the orange wire to the same location will light it amber.
