I have a 95 Eclipse GST with a 6 bolt bottom end with a 2G top end. Unfortunately it caught on fire on the intake (fuel injector failure) side of the motor and melted all the wiring harness for the CAS, fuel injectors, coil packs and everything else. :banghead: I was wondering if there is a website/somewhere i could look to get a decent price (every junkyard wants like 300 dollars) on it?

Any help would be awesome.

Also, would i have to splice every wire to connect the new harness??

It would be easier and more reliable to just get another one and install it. I just sold my last harness for $100 shipped. So they arn't that expensive either. Install in under an hour.

How would i go about installing the new one though? Just cut it down where it all clusters together by the thermostat housing? Or how should i approach that?

Go to pick and pull. theres one in summit. one in hammond and one up by gurnee. the one in summit had a 97 gst only thing missing was the head when i was there last week and they dont charge 300bucks. the prices are online and you can check theyre inventory online as well to make sure they have the car there. it also tells you how long its been on the lot.

they alsohad a bunch of 1gs and talons, eclipses, and lasers.

no, the harness connects tot he ecu, then runs along the firewall on the interior with a few more plugs near the passenger door then through the firewall into the engine bay (at least on a 1g) so you just unplug everything and pull it through the firewall, fish the new harness through the firewall and plug everything back in and thats it

Unplug the ecu/chassis connectors in the console. There is a ground strap held by a 10mm you need to remove under there too. Once thats done. Remove the battery and battery mount. Dick around with the grommet coming out of the firewall, until it pops out, and pull the harness through.

At this point the harness splits into 3 arms. One on the firewall, one on the frame toward the front, and one across the trans for the engine.

To install, put the wires through the firewall first and secure the grommet. Then install the rest. Makes lining up everything easier.

I've install about 4 differnet harnesses in this car over the year. Its really not that hard to do. Just DO NOT PULL on any wires that are hung up.

Its also a great time to redo the wire loom, and tape.

if are you arent familiar with the wiring on the car, you could wrap a piece of tape around each connector on your old harness and write on the tap what it goes to, could help as a reference when putting the new one in.

Ummm, im not sure. I havent really messed with much electrical in my time (as far as making plugs and what not). The fire melted all the injector plugs and about two inches of the wire running up to them. Along with a few other plugs and a couple inches of wiring on them also. So as far as me knowing if its repairable or not i dont know.

A 95-99 GST/GSX harness will work, it just has to have the same trans (auto/5-spd).

If you use a 97+ harness in your 95 you will need to transfer the CAS plug onto the new harness from your old one. The 3 wires match in color so its a no brainier.
