Dan, sounds like this thing is going to be a beast when its done. Good luck with traction you will need it...trust me haha. Keep us updated as to whenyou get it all done.
Yeah, hopefully. If it gets running good and gets a good tune on it, I hopefully will be maxing out the ol 50 trim, and will be in the market for something larger.

Your smell would be correct! I haven't decided on what turbo exactly yet, as I haven't really investigated this yet, but I will when the time comes. All I know is that it will be a big'n.

Zach, will you get switching over to AWD or RWD?

love the sbr front mount, car is looking good, I am envious of your garage, make sure to update on how you pursuit for 11/12's goes.

Nice, I like the sound of people throwing on big turbos. I will hopefully be going awd if everything works out as planned.

Yeah Paul's really stylin' there while working on the motor. Must be a requirement to look good while working! Dan, when you outgrow that 50 trim, I want first dibs on it.

Progress looks great so far so keep us updated.

Andy

Wow, Looks like fixing a few little thing turned into a full motor build! Must be nice to have a garage to be able to just park the car and rip the motor out!
Yeah, I had to sell my motoX bike and a few other things to afford it, but what the hell, I'll be glad once it's done.

Nah, you want the new dual ball bearing 50 trim Andy :p

Looks like a good build Dan, did you end up with the newer Clevites or did you find the old ones?

Matt, Im going to try my luck at the Aluminum Clevites. I spoke with Mitch at Engintecs, he says every engine they have built withe the al clevites are running strong with no problems, knock on wood. Lets hope for the best. But at a good price for all rods and mains, I couln't see why not to use them. I wasn't paying the high prices for ACL's or OEM's, so we'll see.

Alrighty, the machine work is done on the block now. While there, the block was hot tanked 3 times, bored and honed using a torque plate, line honed with ARP main studs, deck resurfaced, new freeze plugs are being put in, the head is also being resurfaced and getting Crower Ti Springs and Retainers. I will be assembling the bottom end this week, and I also have to order some more parts to finish it up. I.E. Timing parts, oil pump, water pump, etc. I will update as I complete more.

Heres a few pics of the block as it sits now.

Do you have the 64 casting no on the crank like the one in the picture?
Also you'd better have the big end of those rods checked before you put it together.

Shit, I think I've got had.
I haven't seen those pics Mitch. I presume the 64 stamping is from the true 4G64.
Thanks for ruining my day!

I’m sorry but I had to. How did you even think you can get the real deal for that kind of money?
Don’t cheap out on bearings and make sure you check those rods. Have them measured in front of you and then let me know.

Mitch, Karking told me that the last shipment of the cranks they got, the supplier said they were all Mitsu cranks, not Hyundai's. I guess they, or the supplier lied.

Now, since I have this one, What exact differences, if you know, do the cranks have? Hardering?
