I'm removing my AC and was wondering how I can help keep cool when autocrossing? I will be running a CF rear deck with a Lexan or whatever they call it to reduce weight. I was thinking of removing the rear quarter glass and placing vents there and maybe doing a roof scoop? yea yea lame F&F jokes aside. This should allow the air to enter the cabin and exit causing a current of "colder" air right? Any suggestions this car is only going to be used for autocrossing and maybe weekend fun.

Maybe you can do it like NASCAR and have the vent hooked up to an air tube that is attached to your helmet.

Ram air to your face!

haha thats awesome.

Goodness LOL I do wear a full face motorcycle helmet so heck why not just cut a hole in the windshield then LOL but seriously any ideas?

I run with my windows cracked unless it's raining. I thought you should have them rolled up though so it reduces drag on the car. Or is the drag not noticable enough to make a difference? Isn't that why your car (Snowborder714) has tape all over the cracks on your car? You want the least amount of drag possible.

I thought SCCA rules required windows to be down....:idontknow: I could be wrong, I haven't looked into it a lot but I was required to have the windows down when I ran a few years back.

O Really? I just ran in Ohio and we didn't have that rule when I was out... but at the same time it did rain on us half the time we were out on the track so maybe they didn't enforce it. This is my first year autocrossing the car has been down for about 5 years and finally everything is in full running order.

They should enforce windows down, even if it's raining. You won't be able to noticed a difference drag wise if they're up or down - it's only autox, not standing mile. And if you're thinking about drag and windows at this point, you're not in the right mindset for autox.

And the tape on my bumper is because my car kept overheating during my HPDE in 100° weather. I tried everything I could to get all the air through my FMIC and then through the radiator, but it didn't help.

Ah ok. Must have just been the place where I went to race at. It wasn't a points race so that could be why they were relaxed. Thanks for the info guys. Looks like I'll just replace the quarter glass with oem and not go the vent route... my accident popped out the passenger quarter window so that's why I was thinking of just making vents back there.
