will this obd2 cable work?

will this cord work with our cars? if so what software should i get? im having trouble finding articles on logging and tunning. i really would like to make my own cable to plug into my laptop any links for that would be great!!

I have no experience with that cable, so I can't say for sure. Why not go with something like the setup from PocketLogger?

As for tuning, if you search this forum for keyword SAFC using my username, you'll find a ton of information about tuning. Post back with any specific questions. You might also want to check out the Tuning and Engine Management forum on this board. It's filled with information.

Yes that cord will work but as said before why not just get a pocketlogger?

I would look at Evoscan. Logging with that is practically useless. It's just good for pulling codes. I know, I bought one when I first bought my car.

As long as you have the right software it should work properly, i compared a cheap ebay ELM327 scanner with the scantool.net and it works just as good. The one I have has a 12 pin to usb and uses FTDI chip drivers. Make sure the product you get is a ELM327 or equivalent. I think it was around 35 shipped. These things will work on any vehicle as long as its a 96+ If you don’t feel like messing around with drivers and software then save some money and get a scantool.net. Scanmaster elm is a nice logger to have....
