OK I'm going out tomorrow to pick up a jdm motor for my gsx because my motor went for a shit after i got the new tranny and flywheel and cutch installed nice timming anyways, and its comming with one of those cyclone intakes. Dose it matter that it has a different intake manifold? like will all the hoses and stuff still go in the same place? and is there anything else i need to know before starting the swap? i checked the forum and couldn't find anything about this sorry if it covered somewhere else. thanks for the space.

the cyclone intake manifold has been brought up hundreds of times before in the forums. Your best bet is to use your stock intake manifold. There are people running...or trying to run the cyclone intake manifold but most seem to use their old one.

your ecu wont control that butterfly cyclone intake.like highpsi said, stick with the stocker.just make sure that jdm motor is a 6 bolt and not out of an evo 4 and above,or it wont fit.

OK just got the motor home and i started looking at it and the turbo is smaller then the one i have on my car i think its the 13g or something whats up with that i thought all the 1st gens had the 14b??

Well that sucks will it still bolt up to my 5 speed tranny or should i just take it back just that the place i got it from is about a 2 hour drive away, and i was just going to rebuild my old 14b anyways

Buy a 6bolt flywheel and you are good to go. Unless you had a 6bolt already. If you look at the crank I'm sure its got a flex plate on it which is for auto trannys. Mine was the same way. Just swap the turbo, manifolds and you should be good to go. Just make sure the injectors are blue tops, and the cams should be the same also.

Sounds good, the tops are blue on the injectors, and as for the cams is there anyway i can check them to make sure they are the same cams because i don't want to be down grading and as for the 13g or b whatever it is I'm just going to use it until i get the money to rebuild my 14b because its shot, is there a huge diff in power? like im really thinking about taking this thing back becouse i paid 1500$ i really dident want a little pissy turbo

I can almost guarantee that the cams are the same, since you have the 450cc injectors. Honestly I would stick with what you've got. I got dicked out of more money and I got the same thing you did. If I ever have to buy another one, I'll probably use karking.com .... I would only take it back if the compression is way off, which you really cant tell without having the engine running. Besides the fact that they may charge you a "restocking fee". :notgood: Just go ahead with the engine swap.... stick it out the 13G until you can get your 14B rebuilt, swapping the turbos won't be that hard. You will probably notice a difference with the 13G though.. I'm not sure about it's specs as far as airflow.

Just to clarify this because I just did a JDM swap this summer with an auto tranny engine; even with the 13b the blue tops are still 450's and not 390's?

If you got the JDM ECU and wiring harness you can just use those to run the cyclone. I am using mine and the turbo does spool faster and it has more low end grunt. It's running off a USDM ecu and is opening at 3000 rpm (I think) instead of the 4200 but it still works well. Of course, it'll work better with the chip...

As far as I have learned, only the USDM auto 4G63's had smaller injectors and different cams. The JDM auto's had 450 cc injectors, and same cams as a manual, just a smaller turbo, and smaller exhaust manifold.

You have no idea how much of a relief that is to hear. I sold my USDM a month ago and I was worried to say the least.
