i have a megan racing header, short downpipe, and 3" from header back with hi flow cat and megan racing muffler. i was wondering if i put my stock manifold, downpipe, and pipe to cat back on if my 3" would bolt to my cat?!

This is true, 3 inch pipe with a 3 inch flange than it will not bolt to the stock converter. Some are built to bolt to a stock converter, some are built to bolt to a 3 inch pipe on the other side.

No it wont work. You cant simply just bolt on a 3inch pipe onto a 2.25 or whatever stock is.

You need a transition pipe. Like an adapter. My cat back came with one, not sure if they all do.

I would love for you guys to explain to me how I have a 3" Cat-back bolted up to my stock cat if it is not possible...Is it practical? No. But is it possible? Yes. I am only running this setup until I get the 3" dp in the mail

OP: As long as it has the matching flange it will bolt up just fine. Of course, you could just crawl under your car and test fit it.

Yours is obviously flanged to bolt to a stock converter. I said that some are flanged to bolt to the stock cat and some are flanged to bolt to a 3 inch pipe. In no way will a 3 inch flange bolt to a 2.25 ever. The 2.25 doesn't even cover the hole on the 3 inch all the way and the bolt holes are spaced further apart.

They do. Some are meant to by having larger bolt holes to accomodate the smaller pipe and some do not. Mine came with an adapter flange.
