Will porting my 1g manifold do anything?

Okay, so i have been looking around for manifolds, and dang they are expensive. So i was thinking, would just porting my 1g manifold help at all? I know the holes are bigger on the 2g and everything, but will a 1g port job help. Or should i just buy a used 2g mani and port it, its just an extra $50.

Exhaust manifold.Yes.

1g ported is bigger than stock 1g.

2g ported is the way to go.I got mine for 20$ shipped.Add 20$ for porting supplies, and that's still a 40$ manifold,that will be good enough for most of our short term goals.

It's a waste of time to port a 1g when there are 2g, EVO3, and FP manifolds out there. I found a 2g manifold in the junkyard one time. I think the 7 bolt stock short block hp record was set with a 2g manifold. I've not seen a lot of people claiming they have the record for a DSM 7 bolt since then, but it was in the 600hp range.

Buy a 2g mani coupled and o2 housing. Port the hell out of both and youll be happy. Would guestimate its good for 400+ hp.

Get an air die and a 25$ nice carbide bit and theres your porting kit. Itll cut through that cast pretty well. Prob still take an hour or more. get polishing stones as well. Youll need them to debur and smooth it out.

Classifieds man.I got a 14$ carbide but for my dremel(sears).The air tools work faster BTW..

And I had a bunch of grinding stones already which helped.I'm doing a 1g o2 housing right now.Well not right now, I'm drinking.

Then sanding discs to smooth everything out.You should feel my manifold and turbine housing.Yeah sexy.

Does anybody know where to get a 2g exhaust manifold with no cracks? I cant find one on this website!

The 2g is slightly more beefy than the 1g. A small hairline crack may not effect performance or leak..

I had a 1g auto manifold that had a few cracks, worked just fine.

Sure it will help- until the 1G manifold cracks (if it isn't already cracked) and all the time you put into porting goes down the shitter.

Why not just go to the junk yard and look, Might be able to get one even cheaper.
