will dsmlink from a 95 gsx work for my 98 gst

my buddy has a 95 gsx, he just got the V3 package with the mini lap top. the whole sha bang. never installed. he is giving up on dsms and is getting a civic

so his dsmlink is for sale brand new in the box never installed and i was wondering if it will work on my 98 gst? i tried to find this answer but i couldnt come up with anything. please help me make a decision

IF he has the ecu than it will work just fine in your car. You will have to click on invert cam angle signal for it to start though.

yeah its the whole package, he never sent in his ecu. he just ordered a ecu for his 95 gsx that came with link. so i guess my question is, is there a difference between his 95 eprom vs if i "had my 98 gst ecu epromed"

Yes, it will work I'm running a 95 eprom with link in my 98.

i have a 95 eprom in my 99 had to swap spark plug wires and click invert cas on the laptop under the misc tab i think

it would be easier to chip your ecu, If you use the 95 u have to invert cas and swap plug wires then your wires are all jacked up and look like a rats nest. and still have it chipped if it never was. So save the troubles and just chip your ecu is my advice from personal experiance

What do you mean a rats nest of wires? You just swap the plug wires around. IF you click invert cas you will not have to switch the injector wires around and even if you did there is no rats nest to anything. You just slide the 4 pins from the plug at the ecu and insert them in different spots. You won't even be able to tell that there was anything ever done to if you do it right. By the way you can not chip a 98 ecu, it can be re programmed easily, but you can't just install some chip in it.

You can't install a socket for the ECMlink chip in '98/'99 ECU's. They're completely different.

No, you don't have to invert the CAS and swap the wire around. The 95 and 96 is the same.

The 98/99 ECU can't be chipped or socketed. The 98/99 ECU is flashable with the Tactrix cable and Ceddymods.

To the OP, as said before, yes you can run DSMLink in your 98 as long as you have an EPROM ECU and invert the CAS signal.

I'm pretty sure mine has a 98 Ecuador currently with a Carolyn tune on it but I don't have a cable for it just my dsmlink I haven't installed yet

You have an N/T and ECMlink is made for turbo cars.

No, you have to click invert. It's exactly what I'm running in my car; 95 gsx link ecu in my 98 gst.
