Hey guys when I start my car I here a little rattle sound. Most of the time when I start the car not always.

Also when I rev my car anywhere from 3.5k+ RPM's it makes another rattling sound.

I stopped at a light earlier as well, and the car started rattling, when i switched the gear into neutral it stopped rattling. Any clue what this can be?

Its a 95 eclipse non turbo, automatic.

Here is a video of the sound when I start the car then rev it:

Thanks in advance for any help...

BTW the guy giving his opinion at the end just said what he thought (hes not a mechanic nor did he ever work on a car)

Sounds like somthing is loose or broken outside of the motor. That could be a lot of things, you'll have to listen under the hood and find where it is coming from, it wont be that hard it's pretty loud. If it's not under the hood so much, try getting under the car while it's running and grab on to things to stop them from shaking like the exhaust. until you find what it is then and go from there

I am still trying to learn my fair share of cars, what would i use to hold pieces down? or does it not get hot down there? :p

I bought a jack to lift the car tomorrow and try some stuff out.

Any other suggestions please?

its the tranny, my aunts camry did this, we went and got the tranny flushed and serviced and it stopped, might want to try that if you havent all ready, caus obviously its the tranny caus if it wasnt when you put it in neutral it would still shake, right?

ok i just watched the video and yea i think that sound is something that probably vibrated loose. Like the other guy said just look around for it but how he said grab the exhaust while the car is running, make sure it don't run for too long :p

Good Job ROFL

Best bet is to jack it up and start looking for a problem. Basically just shake anything that you see and see if it moves.

Remember to use jackstands, or atleast block the car up with something.

yeah exhaust i would say maybe a loose or rusted heatshield. Yeah and stuff does get hot down there if its been running for a while wear gloves or say goodbye to skin LOL :dsm:

hey guys i saw something that might be causing the problem. But i might be wrong because I am still a newbie. I was checking the car out today as much as I can I noticed one thing so far.

I suck with car terminology so bare with me.

On the engine on the left side of a non turbo (95 eclipse) is those spinning things with the band going around them. I reved the car when it hits 3k+ RPM the band shakes a bit, can that be where the sound is coming from? Its like the band starts flip flopping instead of staying straight...

well the belt was shaking from what I can see maybe the pulley as well... Give me a minute and ill post the video i took of the belt shaking.

in the 2nd vid you can see the belt seems like it shakes alot when i rev the car. I cant really tell if the pulley is shaking.

ok you might have 2 problems, i think the shaking at idle is the tranny and the shaking at different rpms is the belt. You really should fix that belt, tighten it up or even get a new one caus how that belt is bouncing around like that it will snap in no time and if it goes out its all over..
