91 tsi awd................. when i start my car i can hear fluid kind of "splashing around" and when i hit the gas the "splashing around" gets louder according to how mush throttle i give it. i cant hear it that well out side the car because it to loud to hear but when im inside i hear it right behind where the cd player would be any ideas? also since that right where the ac is i want to let you know that there is no belt attached to that pully if that means anything something else i dont know if matters but im going to give all the info i have on the car it is running 16g no supporting fuel mods and there is a crack in the valve cover that i just jb welded any help/ideas is wonderful thank you

dude i have the same problem? can i ASK, does your engine for the first time u start it up, does it go past the middle a bit till the thermostat kicks in, it just goes a tad bit over... mine does 1 time and after that after driving for a couple mins it never does it again..... and i hear fluid to at start up and at some throttle.

in the car is the onplace i can hear it because that where its quit for all i know its coming from the other side of the firewall but where is and how can i check the heatercore

im not sure........and does what goes past the middle?

looks like its summer out and i dont need my heater core lines LOL, its just my beater 94 talon.... now my 92 talon is a diff story....

You could loop the lines to bypass the core to see if it is infact it or not before pulling the dash. How do the fluid levels look for oil and coolant?

oil looks good checked that the other day but i do know a lil oil is missing since the valve cover was cracked but not alot because the cars not driven much except for test runs for some questions here since i just got it and its not registered and the overflow tank is filled to the top but not sure as in how to check anything else for the coolant and where can i loop the heater core lines at

+10

either there is an air bubble or its low

Open your rad cap AFTER it cools down and make sure that its full in the engine, just because the over flow is full dont mean any thing.

so if i walk out to my car now open the cap i should see coolant right there?

when i got the car the other day he said he change oil and coolant so maybe there a bubble so if there is one how do i get rid of it

Well yes you should see coolant right now, if there isnt go get a empty clean one gallon jug and fill it with water it wont hurt it, if there is a bubble fill the motor the start it with out the cap on and let it run and as it sucks down continue to fill it till it goes through a few heat cycles and that should help.

alright thanks ill see about that tomorrow but if its full and i keep putting water in it wouldnt it just not go in?

It will suck water down when it goes into a heat cycle and do this with the heat on, I bet thats what happend he put the coolant in with out the heat on and it made an air bubble

put the water in with the heat inside the car on? im sorry but that dosent sound right? i have never done that, that way

Sounds right to me, that is in fact the way that I perform this everytime I have to.

During something like a turbo swap, you have to drain the coolant out of the car. Then when you fill it back up, you fill it up to where you see coolant, leave the cap off, turn the heat on high, and wait for the thermostat to kick in. By turning the heat on, you are running fluid through the heater core, and bringing the operating temperature up. With this also, by turning the heat on you can physically have a feel for how hot the car is getting.

That's what my dad taught me when I was really little and hes been a mechanic for his whole life just about. I never paid attention on my car but on some they have a vacuum/electric motor that when you turn the heat on it opens the valve and lets the hot coolant flow through the heater core, I know my moms ford explorer does and so does my dads Chevy van does to. they do this because if you just leave hot coolant flow through the heater core it will keep the inside of the car hot like I said I never paid attention to under the dash of my car but that has to have something to do with it

i dont know im knew to turbo cars... but i might be low because i took a couple runs up and down the street to see how my boost is running and what rpms the fuel cut was happening and my temp was about right in the middle of the gauge

ok i think we are talking bout two diffrent things then when i said that dont sound right im thinking just filling up the coolant regularly like a fluid change you open the "peacock" let it drain and refill and thats that thats how my shop teacher tought the class bout refilling the coolant

That's where it should be, I would have checked the coolant first, with an air bubble you are creating "hot spots" where ever there is a bubble and the sensor wont pick it up and its not good for your engine.

yeah i know thats where its supposed to be but ive never had a car that heated up like that that fast.

LOL thats when you change the it or drain the coolant. but for now leave the petcock alone and just fill it with water for now and as its running fill it up as it goes down.... And these cars get up to temp very fast because of the low cooling capacity and small cooling passages. My 420a got up to temp fast, my exs 420a got up to temp fast and my buddys tsi awd gets up to temp very fast.
