Hey,

Well, I tried to search, but I did'nt know how to search for it. My friend told me that he read that if you install your BOV backwards that it would hold more boost stock. So we did, and it pulls a lot harder and it holds a couple moer PSI more boost, but is it safe on the BOV and the turbo system? When it vents, it sounds like i'm playing an old NES game. It's ... ... ... interesting to say the least.

no, its not safe at all, it will decrease performance by changing the mixture to rich during shifts. if it´s recirculated then, put it on backwards if you wan´t but if it´s not, then put it the way it was. good luck.

Sorry,

I hadta be a little more descriptive... Its' a little hard for me to explain. like there are two hoses that connect to the BOV. He turned it around, and switched the holes so that the hoses connect to the oppsosite hole. Kinda get it?

It was a trick to install the nozzle in the UICP and the tailpiece toward the manifold.
No, there is no payoff. The 2G BOV will remain a piece of junk. Replace it with a 1G BOV and be done with the worrying.

You know what, that's such a simple and brilliant idea I can't even believe no one else has already thought of it. I see no problem with installing it that way, although, think about it... if they wanted the piston to move that way then all BOVs would be designed like that. There must be a significant compromise with it that way, but I can't see it. Maybe it will be hard for it to open against the pressure? So go for it.:thumb:

Uhm,

Well, I was just worried that just keeping it like that too long can cause a problem with the turbo system. It's really fun to drive though, and it makes me smile everytime I let off the throttle cause the BOV makes such a wierd sound now.

Howie~

I drove a lot today, and the BOV is working pretty well the way it is.

I'm still confused on how stainbox12 said that the because the BOV is reversed, that it would change the fuel/air mixture to run rich. It still functions fine... I think.

What else should I worry about?

Howie~

He took one too many puffs that night, don't worry about him.;)

If it works then it works, don't worry about it. This the sound starts to change or it stop working correctly then you can worry.

I'm sure there's a reason BOV's aren't designed to operate in that direction, but if its working you now then let it go. You'll find out the reason in time, or maybe it will keep working.

There is precedent for this alteration, however. 95GSXracer has an Evo, and I remember him telling me he turned his Evo's BOV "backwards" to get it to hold more boost. I believe this method worked quite well for him. PM him for more details.

Since the Evo's BOV is metal and the 2g BOV is plastic, I don't think this is a good option for 2g's with stock BOV's, and it's probably not recommended in general.

I must be a moron because I still don't quite get the idea of the bov be mounted backwards. What exactly are you talking about?

Its a 2g so it has the weird round mount. You could put it on backwards but what I don't get is how is it working, the valve only opens one way so how the hell is it blowing off?

Ah, I see. Only works with the 2g. Wasn't thinking about the fact that they have different flanges.

Okay...

I'll try and break it down to you. Do you see how the stock BOV is sitting, with a pipe from the intake (with the green dot) attached to one hole... and then the bottom of the BOV sitting on the oother pipe. Imagine the bottom hole being inserted into the pipe with the green dot...

Get it?

Howie~

Okay, that's enough. The weird noise you are hearing are from compressor surge due to disabling the compressor bypass valve. The weird noise you hear may be from your broken turbo.
