why do some dsm's have a redline of 7500 and others have 7000, when its the same motor....specifically the 95-96 have a redline of 7500 where as the 97-99 redline at 7000

A missed shift at higher rpm overrevs the engine higher - say, if you redline at 7500 and you hit 2nd instead of 4th - let's say it brings your revs up to 9500. Now, say you redline at 8500, and the above happens - it overrevs your engine to 10,500! That's enough to grenade lots of piston engines, hell, even a couple rotary engines.]
