Why Did You Buy A DSM???

When I was 12(15 yrs ago) my older sister had a boyfriend with a Plymouth Laser AWD. One day on the back roads of Clover, North Carolina, he let me burn up half of the clutch and most definitely fry his transfer case. It was the most fun I'd ever had until I lost my virginity. A few years after my first backwoods joy-ride, a cousin of mine bought a brand new 96 Talon Ts-i. Then I watched a friend of mine have his grandma buy him a hot pink (yes I said hot pink)F&F style 96 Eclipse GS-T. It was the first ride in NC that had me hooked, though. 4 Years ago when I had the opportunity to buy a 95 2g N/T for $500 I couldn't pass it up. I've since swapped the 95 GS engine into a 98 GS shell, turbo'd my N/T, purchased and sold 2 1g Talon AWD Ts-i's, and am in the middle of trading for a 92 Galant VR4. DSM 4 LIFE

funny how you say a pink eclipse, there's one here it was a girls car and now a guy owns it and its been painted blue.

Stupid......

Bought a Spyder cause I wanted a convertible that I could make fast and cheap--- wrong. Fast yes, cheap no. I should have bought a used M3 for little more than I have into this thing.

When I was 14-15 there was a guy at my high school who had a (then) brand new 94 TSi AWD. I sort of idolized him, quarterback of the football team, straight A student, -etc. He didn't do much to it, but he knew well enough how to make it a little quicker and could drive the wheels off it. I witnessed an AWD launch for the first time and was immediately in love. After owning one myself, I knew for a fact I'd own many more in due time.

I've always been interested in mechanics. My Dad has worked for GM for over 30 years, had 3 girls and no sons...so naturally one of us was bound to gain an interest in all things mechanical.

About 6 years ago, a friend of mine named Jon who I met on Myspace (and still talk to on occasion actually) told me how "hot" he thought 97-99 Eclipses were. That was my initial intro to DSMs, although I didn't actually contemplate buying anything other than a 3g until the very beginning of 2006 when I met my Ex who owned a 92 TSi AWD.

After going with him to a few "less-than-legal" racing events, I decided to buy my first DSM; a 1998 GST Auto. Never modded it too much. 3g lifters bought from Oldman here on Tuners, Boost, and A/F Ratio. Less than 4 months later, I had a 98 Auto with the only confirmed case of CW on that I've ever heard of. Granted, it had 200k+ on the stock bottom end. I wound up selling it for $5k to some riceboy who slapped a 20g on it and blew it up 2 weeks later.

Bought my current 97 GST 5-speed for $3.4k in February '07 with somewhere in the area of $3-4k worth of work already done but with what I was told was a bad TOB. Attempted to start the car and best I can figure, I had a faulty clutch which shattered, ruining my bell-housing.

Then I met Justin. :)

He helped me get my car back on the road. Basically donated a brand-new ACT 2600, injectors, SAFC 2, and my very unique turbo to the cause (and countless more goodies over the next year and a half).

Once I had the tranny rebuilt, everything installed, and running, I drove her for about a year before I got antsy with my mods. I found a killer deal here on Tuners for a freshly built 7 bolt for $1,300. It had been up for over a year so I wasn't getting my hopes up, but I PMed the guys and offered him $700 plus my stocker with 122k on the clock. He accepted! Engine was dropped out and the new one dropped in January '09. It's now almost January '10 and my car hasn't moved more than 20 miles since July '08. She sits currently like this in Texas...waiting for me to have a place to put her so I can bring her up to Pa with me. Love you Bishi...you'll be home soon.

Where she currently sits...behind Dad's barn.

Stupid video my sister took one day while playing with my new camera...I've come to love it.

I convinced my then-girlfriend, now-wife to buy an 02 WRX with the condition that I teach her to drive stick on a different car before turning her loose on that one. That was the first turbo car I'd driven and I loved the feeling of the power slowly increasing and then skyrocketing as it came into boost :hellyeah:

I live in VT, so AWD is a must if you plan on winter mobility. I wanted a coupe instead of a four-door so I searched for a 2-door AWD turbo 5-speed model. Found the Stealth/3000GT, a couple Audi's, and the Tsi. Drove 5 hours to upstate NY to pick up my '95 Tsi. Drove home with no plates <--whoops :shhh:

I was working for a landscaping company and plowing in the winter. We got a crapload of snow that year and I never had a problem driving the 10 miles to work at 1am before the roads had been cleared. That being said, I was definitely doing a little freelance plowing with the front bumper on the way to the shop :p

Wow that is so hot, a girl driving a turbo dsm, like watching it live is so cool, oh jesus i need a new pair of boxers and eyeballs....

well, yeah because she was sexy-I wanted her for years, since I saw her in 91...sadly, I lost out on that one, but better yet , in 1994, I met her younger sister (a virgin) born in 1994. So I put down a small down payment and paid through the nose for 5 years and well , we are celebrating our 17th anniversary. Still get butterflies when I see her....

I was tricked into buying a 1g FWD for $700 in non running condition. I love my car and love the fact it's the fastest car around that doesn't run for more than 3 days at a time hahaha
But seriously, I was lookin for a fast car that would get better gas milage than my mustang and my assistant manager had one sittin at his buddies house that wouldn't run. Picked her up for 700 and the rest is history :) I love the car and could ###### get ASE certified in many catagories because of her :)

i went to my friends house and saw the clean ass 1g sitting there, for some reason i was madly in love with it (at that time i had nevwer heard of DSM or how awesome these cars really are)...but for some reason i fell in love and knew i had to have it so i offered $1900 and he sold it!

I got mine because I wanted a 4g63, 2jz or rb26. So being a Mitsubishi guy and only owning an eclipse not to mention supra's and skyline's are 20-30k. I got a 99 gsx! Sad thing is I drove it around the block on to a trailer of the trailer and in my driveway two months ago. Has not moved since because I'm converting it in to straight up track car. Kind of sucks but will be worth it when she's on the track.

Because they murder everything that lines up against them.

I have always loved DSMs seince my step bro had 1 with 557HP to the weels. that thing was a rocket. when i got my first n/t 2g he told me to sell it due to all the problems. I got it running right and took it too a friends house, on my way home at like 2 in the morning got hit by a drunk! I could see my spare tire in the back seat, luckaly i didnt drive a 3rd person or he would be dead. Then i got my Gst. I oiginaly wanted a gsx but o well. i love my DSM even though my passenger side door handle just broke on me the other day. Got to hate those plastic clips!

Got rid of my Typhoon, missed turbocharged awd, and i wanted something to drive for the 8 months during the winter/spring/fall time that i can't ride my zx-9.

i was looking on Craigslist for my first car and i ended up picking up a 93 talon n/t...thing was clean inside and out..payed 1k for it

well after that is when i started learning about cars (dsms in particular).
i started looking for a turbo model for the hell of it..
one day i came across a gst and guy asked if i wanted to test drive it...so i did..

after that i fell in love and i started putting my talon up for sale.

found a 91 laser on CL with very little description..just turbo, fwd, 5 speed..
no pictures either..emailed him and he still had it, he wanted 1500 and i offered him 1200.

found some guy to buy my talon for 1500 :p and went down to buy the laser(still no pictures)
got there test drove it blah blah blah, and drove it home :D

i was a little rough..200k on the body, motor was unknown and rigged together.
daily drove it, auto crossed it, road tripped it...haha

the motor pic is from my laser the first day i brought it home...cleaned it up alot to but done have a berre pic :/

i threw 550s and 2g mas upped the boost..thing ran strong after beat every day.
sold it to a buddy and it still runs strong after more beat

bought a normal car after(2g n/t beater) traded it for a 99zx2...that blew up...so i bought a s10 v8....then a few weeks ago i traded it for my 95 gst(16g, fmic, short route, 15 psi, short shift, full 3" exhaust, diff, act clutch, safc, clean) straight up trade..

and welll here i am back in the dsm game agian :p
