Why Did You Buy A DSM???

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

I wasnt actually looking for a dsm, I built my integra and then got sick of it soon after so I posted it up for sale (looking to get a nice down payment for a nice newer RSX or something) and then the trade off came through. It was a straight up trade and I always loved the look of 1G's and this was a solid foundation so I said alright. Got it drove it for maybe 200 miles and got to work.

My brother had a laser and i liked it. So I seen my for over a week sitting in the same place, went to look at it, pretty ugly, so i decided to fix it up since i blew the head gasket in my ford exploder and now im loving my eclipse!!!

i loved the look of paul walkers eclipse. ever since then ive been in love with them. im hoping to save some money and buy a 99 GSX and swap in an evo motor, make it go zoom-zoom the DSM way:sneaky:

Why on gods earth would you swap an evo motor in, it's basically the same engine you wouldn't be gaining anything from that.

got my gsx because car design and motor engineering peaked in the late 90's

new cars today.... yawn ....

Bought it in late 07, it was sitting at my mechanics since 00(last tag date) and had a bad auto tranny. Didn't want it at first till I took a second look and realized it was turbo and AWD. Convero with mechanic went like this

Me: Jose that car been sitting there that long and nobody has come to get it

Jose: No man Effing piece of S*** mitsubishi has a bad tranny so owner didn't have the money and just left it.

Me: Wow, well why don't you sell it

Jose: Nobody likes Mitsu POS especially an eclipseLOL

Me: Really? well sell it to me, how much you want?

Jose: for that POS gimme $500, gimme another $500 for mechanics lein.

Me: Oh Eff I'll be right back

And that Ladies and Gentlemen is how I came to possess my 95 eclipse GSX, stock with 35,000 original miles, I have been doing maintenance on that bastard aswell as a 5 speed swap and she sits right now with 35, 652.

Originally bought the car to be a drag car (have other cars to dd), but have since changed my plans and am building it for wheel to wheel road racing.

Let's not forget one of the best reasons to buy a DSM, Great online community support :D Because let's face it, you buy one of these cars, your gonna need it ;)

I got it because the 1GA represents, for me at least, the last decent car made (at least as far as my criteria for fun cars is concerned). No ABS, no air bags, easy to convert everything to manual, and easy to work on. You can't buy crap anymore without it having a nannymatic and air bags and power ass warmers and power steering. People are too concerned about creature comforts now than a pure driving experience. Sure, I have newer cars for my beater cars, but my fun car will always be an older car.

You don't use power steering? I don't need air bags, abs, A/C, cruise control, emissions, or even windshield fluid, but I gotta have power steering. What if you have to swerve out of the way of something real fast?

in the fast and the furious tho paul walkers eclipse is a 420a turbos charged tho, so that would make it fwd and non turbo to a turbo , if you watch the part again when they pop the hood u will see!!!

I did notice that after i got mine. Before i even knew abou the 420a. Was like thats not right at all!!

I bought mine off a friend who said it was fast, then i drove it and hit boost the first time ever and i was ADDICTED!! its like a f@#ckin drug thats legal! ;P

I bought my first DSM in California after seeing it in an online ad. The lines on the 1st Gen DSM's are beautiful, fell in love with it as soon as I drove it and felt it was not a weak car. That was my 94 GS, I have a 92 GSX now for the turbo and the AWD. I was impressed by the 1st gen TSi AWD track times, and knew I had to have one. I like the Eclipse version of the DSM over the Talon. It all came down to minor body design changes, hence the GSX.:hellyeah:

So I own a 1st gen DSM for looks, power, and comfort!:thumb:

I bought my DSM because it was a $900 turbo 4 cylinder that pushed 190 horse stock and was getting 30+ mpg. And it looked like a good project to learn on... 1G's really turn heads.

DOn't you love it when people don't know what they have?

As for me, I heard they were hard to get a hold of, so instead of going for Fieros, I went for the GSX.

While moving you can steer the car just as well as having power steering. only time you notice a difference is when you're sitting still (trying to turn the wheel when not moving).

I had a built head, stage 3 tranny, spare complete running motor, and other performance parts for a 4g63..
I've own a 1st gen Talon before hit 11s easy and plan on doing so again with a 2nd gen talon. also when I had my 1st gen everyone loved my brothers 2nd gen because it looked better so thats why I always wanted one too.. DSM's what else can I say..

F&F came out, i just turned 16. My first dsm was a blue gs for 800$ sold it cause it was a pos. then bought a 95 green gst fun car during high school sold it to some rich kid who blew it up.. realized i loved dsm's to much, and went out and bought a 97 silver gsx

My dad has a 94 eclipse 1.8 base model, i was like meh at first, didn't dig it much, looked at the manual and saw they had a 2.0 turbo model, then it caught my attention, i was like "hmm, let me go reasearch these turbo models online i didn't know of". Went online and started learning about the turbo models 1g, well during halfway through 12th grade bought my 1st car, a 91 tsi awd auto with 110k on the clock.
Sold it, got me a 96 gst later on like 5 months down, few months later got into an accident and instead of fixing i got frustrated fast and sold it, surely enough i was so hooked on DSM that about a good 10 months later i bought my 3rd (present) DSM, a 95 gst.

i bought one cause my friend at the time had a laser and it was FREAKING FAST, i had to have one, but my first one was a n/t 2.0 but super clean, i bought it from a war veteran who kept it garaged for almost 8 years, (talk about mint) jumped time and he kept it that long cause he could never find the reason it would not start, i got it for a deal of $150 and i got a free parts car.

I like AC, P/S, power windows, etc... But screw airbags, and that annoying buzzer that says your seatbelts aren't fastened, and ABS. My dad has an 08 Subaru Forrester; that thing starts screaming at you because your seat-belt isn't hooked-up BEFORE the car is even moving! Even with the hand-break still on! And it isn't a little bell or anything, it sounds like a freakin' fire alarm or CO detector.

Yeah, the 1Gs were one of the last real cars; an engine, 4 wheels, a couple of seats, some sheet-metal, and a little bit of glass.

:Dbought my first dsm from a minister that had it sitting in his back yard for about 5 years broken .was looking for another car but not this type of car ,so I checked it out and picked it up for 700.00 bucks .I got it fixed and liked the power and look of the car ,did some reading on her and now own a 91laser turbo ,a 92awd turdo and now recientally a 95 eagle talon awd which I got pretty cheap .I would call it an addiction .LOL

I was in a shop class before i was really into cars and I got a ride in classmates Buick gnx , I thought it was stupid fast. A few weeks later he was complaining that he got beaten by some stupid 4 cyl talon. That's how I first heard of them. Picked one up a few months later.
