what would you replace for a full engine rebuild. the shop here locally does me good prices on mechine work.. i got a 93 talon problly have to rebuild the 5speed or get another from junk yard.. i have no idea how to rebuild one

so this is wht i do know to do and get
honed, (bored if not stock)
polish crank
buing a new intake and exhuast manifolds
rod bearings, main bearings (clev77 or wht ?)
rings(not sure wht kind)
belts, seals
waterpump, oil pump

like to get
new pistons, and rods

What are your goals for this car as far as power output and what not? That will help alot in deciding what all you need to include in your rebuild. You say new intake manifold, is there something wrong with yours? Intake manifold is something you should upgrade when you're looking to make some serious power, you can port the stock one and it will not hold you back at all unless you want to lay down some serious numbers.

i agree with AWD..it depends alot on what you want out of the car before you start re-building. you may or may not need to do machining work depending on what you want and what condition the engine is in right now.

I would also add to a balance job and a valve job (more angles the better). If your going to get that far into it get some Eagle rods and Ross forged pistons, maby some cams and ARP head studs make sure you get a new head gasket. Id eliminate the Balance shafts.

PS> Your going to need fuel (injectors, pump,AFR) and a tuning device and logger. Passably a larger turbo depending on what you have and to be better off if you get a FMIC. This is all going to get you some good power though and your going to spend some $$.

goals, well im sorry i must apologize, what i want, well i want to turbo it, not bust balls, but have them. something like 15 20max psi, (if im lucky enof to turbo it, controled by blitz (i hope, probe no get one..dmn mazda) i have a GL and well for a probe GT ## better off buying them making a GL a turbo, u can.. but GT well isnt like wht u do to a GL...<hope im making sense> so with a 93 talon, im not sure the class

FROM THE SITE
Turbo Installation
Since the motor is basically the same layout as the turbocharged 4G63, it is possible to bolt up factory turbo parts from another car. However, with the higher compression, it won't be possible to turn up the boost enough to gain huge amounts of power.
.... i remember GLs compression is 8.6:1. they said our pistons were better.. any ways.. i hate mazda unless its rotary,

now its sitting at this guys house, and its trany was going out so i need a new one, which isnt a problem, should i get a turbo trany, GL and GT are diff in probe land . mx6.
