Who's using an FP restrictor/filter?

Who has used them and how has your experience been with it? I am planning to run one with my hx35. Thanks guys.

Never used one personally, but I feel it would be a great idea as it would the prevent oil contamination reaching the turbo in the event of an engine failure by stopping the large abrasive particles. Under normal driving conditions this is done by the oil filter itself....but in extreme failure cases the oil filter quickly becomes clogged and the contaminated oil will bypass the filter.

The orifice in the journal-bearing filter is .100" which is around the size of a -3AN line's I.D. It would provide the same volume of oil as if you were running a full -3AN supply line. We are running a restrictor of about the same size on TalonDave's HX40.

Thanks for the reply Justin. I picked up a tee fitting so I can monitor oil pressure after the restrictor/filter and adjust it as needed. If the pressure is too high, I may have the restrictor outlet machined to accept a nitrous jet. The only issue I see with running the filter is that it does not have very much surface area, so it will not take too much debris to clog it up. In order to help monitor this, I may plumb a pressure transducer to the tee and log it through dsmlink.

I think i'm going to run one on my journal bearing PTE turbo. How often is it recommended that you check the filter for contaminents?

FP recommends that the filter be checked during each oil change at the minimum. I will inspect mine after running the engine for a while just to see if I have any debris in there. That is the reason for monitoring oil pressur after the filter.

I Run one. But is it necessary to actually change it after each oil change, or can you just clean it out if theres anything in it?
