.My block (above) has both sides blown out. You can see clean through it. I just didn't post the other side. Everything near the starter is gone.Surprisingly, I think that's the first time I've ever seen both sides of the block blown out.
Nope. What makes you think I was joking?99gstracer- You were joking about thinking it was a headgasket rite?

Why do you always answer a question with a qustion? Are you serious

I purchased my 91 Talon about 2 months ago, in a non-driving condition. It didn't drive, so I didn't even bother starting it. I paid $400 for it, so I didn't even bother giving it the "thousand point vehicle check". Within 3 minutes of looking at it (I did not climb underneath it), I noticed that the oil and coolant were mixed, and it was leaking in small amounts from an unknown location. The condition of the engine did not matter to me as I was mostly purchasing it for the chassis, tranny, and turbo. I got the car home, tried starting it, and it fired right up. It wouldnt hold an idle, and it only had slight audible noise.
So, in a nutshell: The previous owner was a 16 year old kid and he told me he thought it had a popped head gasket. I found coolant in the oil and took his word for it.
Let me know if this logic baffles you and/or if you have any other retorical questions to ask.

Yes. There was some oily coolant in the pan, but not enough to reach the dipstick. It still had oil in it?
Burned up the valve. Simple fix and I got some ARPs and a fresh new headgasket in there, but could have been a lot worse!

this thread makes me want to sell my car....
