if you asking this to see if its ok, please stop now and dont do it, your car will run like crap. unless you using ems, vpc, or blow thru gm maft then dont vent, your idle will be crappy and at shift you will run away to rich and it causing for lots of lag going into the next gear.

many people will say o i vent with no problem well thats bull shi*, go take it of for about one week then put it back on you will not believe the diffrence it makes. :thumb:

I vented my GST for about the first month that I had it not knowing that the previous owner had it vented until me and my buddy took a little closer look. The only real reason people vent with no supporting mods is the sound of the BOV. Yeah, mine was loud, but my car also ran like total shit.

the reason i ask this question was to see whish one was more popular the vpc or the gm maft. I also just wanted to see how many people actually vent with no supporting mods. I know its bad to do it with no support so don't start that crap....

Maft is much much more popular. VPC is very expensive. I will be getting a maft when funds allow.

shit id rather get gm maft over vpc anyday, i would rather go out and buy dsmlink and gm maft setup for the price of a vpc.

i vent, but i know why my car bucks between shifts at times. gm maft is on the way. my piping is already setup for it even.

I vent with a no supporting mods, have the IQ of a fencepost, and can't figure why the car runs crappy.

hmmm I wonder who put that part in there? :thumb:

I'm venting - but just temporarily. I usually run recirc'd, but was curious to see how the car responded while vented and now can't get the #&%ing clamps back on for the stock recirc tube. I'm planning on replacing that mess of an intake soon anyhow.

The crushed BOV does a good job and doesn't leak and the car idles fine - but the car will respond in kind depending on how hard it vents - so if it vents hard (lots of throttle, then off) then if I'm not right back on the throttle the idle will dip way down low or even stall. Easily understandable - but fun as an experiment for a few days until the weather clears up and I can fix the mess.

Well, for a while I vented with no VPC or whatever, and for the most part my car ran fine. Now that I have the blow-thru maft, my car runs fine all the time. :)

I'm new to DSM. Does it cost a lot of money to get the MAF with the translator so that you can vent?

i vented for a little bit, then just stopped because i got this ticking noise(maybe threw off timing) so i stopped, got scurred!
