all the other posts were old.

basically I'm still looking for a nice 350whp turbo for a FWD daily driver.

Evo316g about 900 dollars ported and with the install kit.

SBR-G60 internal WG, 4" port shroud....$729...then I just need the oil lines.

Him being front wheel drive the lag will help with traction and give him a lot more room to grow, go with the G60

Talondave ran one for a while just before he used the HX35. Wasn't a bad turbo; his best time was 12.43 at around 22-23psi.

The turbo seemed to surge pretty bad if pushed beyond that boost level; it blew on him a couple times, but it failed horribly on the new owner. He pushed it pretty hard and the turbine shaft apparently twisted...when I got it back the turbine wheel was half ground down and wobbled horribly. The turbo was basically junk after that.

Sorry to bring this thread up again, but anyone know how many CFM this turbo flows at 20psi by chance? or even at direct wastegate pressure? They never gave me any info or even a turbo map sheet for the stats on this G60 that i bought. Im not trying to get top hp results, just reliability and some decent numbers.

sometimes reliability is hard with none coolant turbos, just don't feed it too much or too little oil.

as for the CFM, I don't know....dyno it?

According to the compressor map, around 38lb/min. In other words, if you're never planning on going above 20psi, you're better off with an Evo III 16G.

AS far as no coolant lines (or an "oil only" cooled CHRA), just get a turbo timer, or run synthetic and always give it some cooldown time before shutting the car down (manually turbo timing the car) and you will be just fine

Years and years ago (about 10 or so) when i took my aprenticeship at majestic turbo with plans of moving down there to work for him he had said that with an only oil cooled turbo, you MUST run a turbo timer or let it idle for some time if you run it hard or at high RPM for any amount of time soon before shutting down and on a water cooled you can just shut it off with a puts through your block going home or with 30 seconds of idle time. But i ran my oil anbd water cooled CHRA for a few years with oil only and I would just cruise through the neighborhood real slow for a couple blocks befoire parking and hutting down, and there's no signs of coking ang i've had this turbo on for a full 10 years or so with over 120k miles (the only difference in the water/oil or oil only is having the accomadations for the water and lines on the CHRA or not)

But i always run synthetics andused cmmon sense before shutting the car off

and the CHRA is in great shape internally so just run synthetics or get a TT. And i too have had a 16g (old big one) and now have the 57 trim to4e and the bigger laggier turbo helps with traction between shifts but once it spools up get ready for some peg leg tire smokin ( i spun the right front 26" MT slick all through 2nd at the drag strip) the quaiffe diff is a must on a performance FWD DSM (shimming your front sway bar to even the tire eights up front goes a long way to help, but do it with your amount of weight (friend or sand bags) in the driver seat.

Having had a small ass .48 turbine housing on my 57 trim was giving me a really good spool foir this wheel but held in so much heat it cracked the housing like a 14b/16g typically does, and was robbing hp up top. now with a .63 housing in stage III exh turbine this thing is lag-city :( but the top end is incredible i had recently made 431 HHP on the .48AR at high boost 32 at first then got it down to 28-29iah with some fine tuning pulled right near the same HP but you could feel the loss in pull up top with the small housing, I gained a full 1000 - 1300RPM of powerband up top putting me now shifting at 82-8500 depending on what gear instead of 7500 or so before. But now at 20-22 psi it feels almost as strong as it did at 27 or so psi. it's gotten spooky having some tall sidewall tires and the added top end scream

but all in all the big turbo is so much more fun when you learn to drive in a manner that can keep the car in its power range, but if lag bothers you and you're not the type that will downshift to 2nd at 40-45mph in traffic then get the smaller EVOIII, the 16g is probably the better street turbo for most but the g60 is better for some one who has to have his addrenaline bump started on a regular basis like myself

so that was long but i like to be thorough, i hooe the info helps in your decision making
