Ok so I have 98 GS-T, 3" turbo back exhaust, intake, 1g bov crushed, wahlboro 255 fuel pump, apexi safc II, SSAutochrome FMIC kit, and an ebay knockoff big 16g. I'm in the process of looking to buy a bigger turbo because I want more and also looking to get injectors. I will be running it on a stock motor for the time being. I found a brand new SBR G60, internally gated, and flanged for a dsm for 400 which is a great price so I want to pick it up. Is this turbo good for my setup which I will be running probably 680 or 780 injectors and around 22-24 psi boost?

that might put u very close to the pop point on that block i cant say it wont blow your motor or not. i mean u can bolt what ever u want on but don't mean u can utilize it if the supporting mods are not there. i think that psi might be to high for stock internals but i have seen crazy things work before but the question is for how long

thanks for the quick reply...the reason i'm so stuck on getting this turbo is because it seems like a great deal that i don't want to pass up but i do want to make sure it will be safe to run it first. I was thinking around 22 PSI would be safe but i'm not 100% sure on stock internals. I'm really trying to get as much information as i can before i actually buy the turbo.

anyone with more input please?

Well I'm new to the DSM world so take anything I say with a grain of salt, but if I were you I would buy it and install it and keep the boost in the teens until you can upgrade the internals. That does sound like a great deal and it would be hard to pass up.

yea thats how i was looking at it too the only thing that is stopping me is the fact that I dont want to in fact lose power by running such a large turbo at low boost rather than buying a smaller big evo III 16G and running at its full potential. So i'm trying to figure out if it will be more beneficial for me to spend more money on a genuine mitsubishi big evo3 16g and run it to its full potential or spend less money on this great deal and run a larger turbo at less than its full potential...its soooo confusing LOL please help!

Any more input? I have to call the guy back before 10 o'clock tonight to tell him if i am going to pick up the turbo tomorrow or not because he has a second interested buyer but he's waiting for my response.

A couple summers ago we ran a Frank Level 5 20G (same compressor as a G60) on a buddy's 2G at 25psi with no problems at all. The car still had the stock head gasket and bolts.

At that point tuning has more to do with whether your engine blows or not than airflow. Tune good and you'll be surprised how much boost you can run on stock internals.

That sounds great! Pretty much just what i wanted to hear! thanks! I see you're from PA, I'm from NJ which isnt too far so could you recommend a good reputable shop to get my car tuned at? My buddy was using a place called TurboTrix in Edison NJ for his car so i was going to use them but i'd like some options and opinions as well.

If you're taking it somewhere, don't think you'll get away with running 25psi on a 5-minute tune. You'll do better off on your own where you can experiment a little; just don't go too crazy.

Set the boost at 20psi to play it safe and have it tuned for 10.0-10.5:1 at wide open throttle.

A shop won't want to tune your car to the ragged edge unless you know someone that works there. They won't want to be responsible if you blow your head gasket on the way home and bring the car back with coolant running out of it claiming their tune was shitty. I know I wouldn't tune any car but my own or a close friends' as such.

Yea i was figuring to run no more than 22 PSI and the place i was talking about does 5 pulls on the dyno and tunes it. I dont really trust myself tuning the car espeically since its my daily driver. What size injectors do you think would be good for that setup?
