I've got a 98 GST, running 3" turbo back, 3" Megan racing o2 housing, intake, big evo3 16g, boost controller, 1g bov, ssautochrome fmic kit, Apexi SAFC, and also not installed (waiting to get a new turbo) I have 650 injectors and a wahlboro 255 fuel pump and a adjustable FPR. Now I'm looking to hit around 400 hp when all is said n done and the sh*TTY eBay 16g that's on there is on it's way out so I wanna go big. I found a guy selling a brand new SBR G60 for $450 and it says it's flanged for a DSM and internally wastegated. I wanna kno if my mods will support this turbo once everything is installed and tuned and what else I'll need to make this turbo bolt onto my car.
 
Good turbo overall; find out how old it is and who built it....post pics if you need assistance. It's most likely either a Turbonetics or Kinetic-built turbo.

I know of a couple guys that ran a Garrett-based 60-trim on their stockish DSM and suffered compressor surge at wide-open throttle around 22-25psi. Not sure if the compressor cover or compressor wheel design is to blame, possibly an issue with the turbine housing / wheel being too small as well causing too much backpressure between the turbo and the engine.

Will this be a good turbo for my setup and hp goals plus daily driven? Any idea if it will just bolt up in place of my Big Evo 3 16G or will i need to make any mods to make it fit?

If it's a newer-released turbo like he's claiming and hasn't been sitting on the shelf for the past four years, chances are it's a Kinetic-built G60, and will look like this:

Any idea if it will just bolt up in place of my Big Evo 3 16G or will i need to make any mods to make it fit?
It will bolt to the manifold; that's about all that will be the same. You'll need to make extensive modification to your intercooler piping, and there's a good chance you'll need to dent your water pipe since you have a 2G.

You'll need new oil supply and drain lines- feeding this turbo from the filter housing is recommended, and a restrictor wouldn't be a bad idea so you don't over-oil the turbo. Garrett-based turbos are fragile to oiling.

well i have a FMIC on the car now and i have a downward facing j-pipe now which connects to my intercooler piping so im not too worried about the intercooler piping since I installed the kit on my own and had to make some mods to make it fit anyway. The oil feed and return lines im not worried about either since i already looked at the SBR website that was listed in the classified ad for the turbo and found the oil line kits so i would just buy that. As for the water pipe, i'm a little confused. What exactly do you mean by this? Are you talking about the coolant lines that are running to the turbo? will they bolt up the same way to the SB60 as they do to the big evo 3 16g and what you mean is i may have to bend or dent them to make the clearance around the turbo?

also i just talked to the seller and he said he bought the turbo about a year ago and it sat in his garage in the box and was never installed.

You're most likely going to need to smash the shit out of the water pipe that goes across the front of your engine block which carries coolant from the pump to your lower rad hose with a hammer in order for the compressor cover to clear.

The G60 does not have a water-cooled center housing, so you will need to loop or cap off the water lines going to your 16G.
 
Is that safe for the engine to have that water line crushed like that? Wont that cause lower flow of coolant to the engine or radiator or am i just crazy? LOL sorry im asking all these questions but it seems like you know a lot about this turbo and i'm just trying to learn as much as i can. So basicly if i buy these 2 kits :

and install them, and figure out a way to hook up my intercooler pipe, and cap off the old coolant lines going to the 16G, and crush that main water line that runs in front of the engine than the install should be complete right? The links to the 2 kits i posted above show the oil feed and oil return lines and it looks like they already have the restrictors included so they would work right?

Anyone have any idea? Please
