Do your under hood temps stay much cooler with all of that thermal insulation? What about weight. Is there a significant about of weight added?

No way to know underhood temps before since I have had the stuff since the build. I mean yea my car gets hot like every other car on the planet but I am able to touch exhaust turbo parts after the car has been running. Weight around 10lbs for all header and reflective tape would be my guess.

I think out of everything you've done, I'm most impressed with your custom intake manifold :thumb:

Ok, back to the thread. So after priming the engine I plugged the injectors back in and crossed my fingers. Cranks, but no start. I could smell the gas so I knew the spark was dead. First thing I checked was all my wiring for the ignition circuit...check, threw in a spare ECU nothing, changed PT nothing. I was stumped, cleaned up a little bit and thought about it, about 2.5 hours later a crazy thought came to mind what if both the PT and the ECU were bad, so I switched both at the same time plugged everything back in and after almost 12 years to the day I had my dream dsm. It fired right up. Both units were bad because of hooking up that that MSD pre PT from my earlier mistake that I had made but no biggie the doctor figured it out in no time and my car lived again.

I started the car on 93 gas just to get it started, took it for a test drive over to my parents to show them the car only a few miles away. Car was good there, the way home was not so good, that stupid water pump pulley I made snapped so we were stuck, had my wife run me up a new one and threw it on, then the next problem started, the car wouldn't run, there was no fuel pressure. Now I knew that the fuel in the tank was going to break up some of the inside residue from the old gas that was still previously in the tank that I couldn't clean, but I didn't think it was going to happen this fast but it did, here are some pics of the pre pump filter after 10 miles of driving. So the next three days I spent filling and draining the tank or running the car for a few miles at a time until the filter would clog, eventually I had to get a larger filter from Jayracing.com so it wouldn't clog so easily.

dude your car is even better in person and u r cool as hell to cruise wit! when u first pulled in at slims on sat i was like holy shit that is the cleanest 1g i have ever seen, nice ride man

Rupe,

Nice work. You're crazy.

Are you going to the Kilkare event 9/19? If so, we can get some real pics of your car, with or without a few hoochies (if the wife allows that).

I had all of my friends check out the underside of your car at the shootout. I would eat off of it!

I think someone has definitely got me beat! I take a lot of pride in saying I thought I had the cleanest 1g. I know others have had more amount of work in their motors and drivetrains and such. As an overall though I thought I had the cleanest looking 1gb.

I have definitely been pushed way the hell over!

BEAUTIFUL car man! I love it and I love and respect the work of anyone who cares about, not just the motor in the cars, but cares about the cosmetics also!

Great work..... No AMAZING!

Once I had consistent fuel pressure I could finally boost. 18Psi out of the box with less than 40 miles on it, the 660s were not enough, so I picked up some race gas and tuned the thing but anymore than 18 it would knock. I did do a 150mph pull just to make sure things were OK, and the car pushed some coolant so that was my next issue. I reused my MLS head gasket and a set of ARPs that I got in a trade. The arps couldn't screw in by themselves so I ran a die over them. I contacted ARP and they said that was a NONO because I have actually cut away part of the studs and they should be replaced, so I bought a new gasket and studs and threw it on without any copper spray this time.

I needed more fuel but since I am out of money and I can't afford DSM link right now I couldn't get the HUGE injectors that I really need so I bought some 900s that won't be too much for the vpc/afc combo, I have a 660 chip in the VPC so I figure it won't be too far off. Picked up some E-85 and started to tune again. 10 min later it seems to be good, but the intake isn't working as I had hoped. First gear won't boost because the pressure switch is not able to make contact fast enough and open the wastegate on the actuator. Also I am loosing too much between shifts because the actuator is closing. So I ran a straight line from the plenum to the actuator with a check valve inline, and that solved the problem. I am getting 20 psi by 4300 on a 7.8-1 motor. Now for those who want to know about power and Ets, well it is making plenty, I am up to 22 psi and the car hauls balls. I won't be visiting a dyno, I haven't made a legal pass since 03 and I don't have any intentions any time soon either. I think we all know I am a street racer and that isn't going to change, so you will just to have to assume the car is fast.

I told her either she could get on the car or I would find another girl/s that will, she was like.... well ....

I am hoping at the car wash Kauhn or you can get some high quality shots.

Since the car is done I hope to attend many events that I have missed over the past years while doing the build. I wouldn't attend them because I figured I should be working on mine versus looking at others.

At this time I want to say thank you to all of those that have said so many nice things about my ride. I hope you all appreciate it as much as I do. I plan on owning this car for a LONGGGG time. It is all paid for and I don't see the reason to sell or get rid of the car. And lastly I want to thank all the people that made this possible. :applause:

That means a lot becuase I think you have the most amazing 1g on the board. I was hoping to see your car someday, maybe MOD or the SO some time.

I will definitely be at MOD in Normal on Sept 26th. You going? I would love to see that thing. I hate to say it, but your might put mine to shame!:sosad:

I hope to see ya there!

Dude, I cant wait to go now!! Ill really have to clean it up now. Gotta do my best to impress you! LOL We'll have to get in touch and meet up before the meet that way we can sit next to each other!

WOW

Excellent job.. dedication at its finest

At this time I am getting my eprom socket by "Steve", but I'm pretty sure I am going to keep the VPC in conjunction with Link even though V3 has speed density, I just don't see the point of getting rid of everything, just to buy all new sensors and rewire it all, unless someone can convince me otherwise, I am not real knowledgable on V3 of course it is new.

I asked earlier but exactly how is the heat sheild held onto the fp manifold? I dont see any revisions for bolts to go into it or anything....
