You want a cheap 50 trim? Or a turbo that's going to last you a while and perform the way it should? The PTE's are cheap, and are made as such. Just make sure you buy from reputable vendor that will honor their warranty when it takes a shit. Don't worry abuot the wet center section. You don't really need it. A T3/T4 will not bolt up to a DSM manifold without an adapter plate. I like the t3/t4 setup, simply because the T3 hotside will outflow any dsm turbine housing you can bolt up.

cheap turbo .com is selling garett turbos, they have pretty good prices on them too...like on sale for $500-$600 for a 50 trim with free gaskets, seemed like a good deal to me, but i would like some input, and maybe someone on here has bought from them before..... :dsm:

Comes with a 270 deg. thrust bearing? Might as well just get a PTE, and not have to buy a manifold. then you get to hope it's covered by a warranty when it takes a shit due to that same 270 deg. thrust bearing. The ONLY good 50 trim on the market is the FP Green. 360 heavy duty race thrust bearing. Never hear about those taking a shit within 500 miles, do ya/ But there sure are a lot of stories about the PTE's doing that.

agp rs49, also what is all this talk about 50 trims, i didnt read your profile but do you have everything to accomadate a 50 trim?

FP turbos cost to much money but I guess when you want the best you have to pay for the best.

The green is the best 50 trim out there but if you feel like shelling out 1300 you might as well get the fp 3052.

Be prepared to buy a fp o2 housing with any of there turbos.

Godo luck

For $1300, all you get is the turbo. Then you gotta buy the $250 2.5" O2, or the $500 3" O2 housing. Then you need the Tial gate, dump tube, and oil/water lines. It's not just a simple turbo you are buying. You gotta buy the entire setup. Now you have a $2200 commitment, instead of a $1200 bolt on. But, the FP30 turbo's are hands down, a mile above the rest of the other bolt ons.

Go ahead and buy the AGP kit. Sure it will set you back some $$$ but in the long run you will be VERY happy that you did. The onlt drawback I have about it is I wish I bought it sooner :thumb:

Yea thats what i ment as appose to buying a agp or pte turbo for 800 or so.

But like I said if you gonna spend the money on a Fp turbo go with the 3052 or any of the new Gt turbos.

On a side not I have a pte 50 trim and I have had no problems with it for the 6 months i have had it. I still have no shaft play. In march I will be pushing 25+ psi on it daily.

My PTE has 9k on it. Set @ 24psi daily driven, and i tend to have a heavy foot. Ive seen quite a few track runs besides dickin on back roads, and the turbo's seen as much as 28psi so far on racegas. No problems.

According to the specs on the PTE website all SCM turbos come with a 360 bearing, not a 270 as mentioned before.

I have the AGP 50 trim kit on my Galant VR4.. SFP manifold, 36mm tial gate. yadda yadda... I ran a 12.5 @ 111 untuned on pump gas a couple months ago. The car is running like shit in my opinion. I have an A/F problem that i haven't fixed yet, and i'm knocking in the 20's from around 6500 and up. I'm confident that I could run an 11 with race fuel and higher boost, i was only on 19 psi last time. I love the turbo, and i've been in cars with the Green.

^ If you cant do a low-mid 11 at least on racegas id be extremely dissapointed with the amount of mods you have. With a good tune u should easily do 11's on pumpgas.

Go on DSMtimes and you'll see under a dozen Galant VR4's in the 11's. The majority of them having a turbo that's significantly larger than a 50 trim.
I'm not going to get anywhere until I figure out my A/F problem.
I have 720's , a 255, SX FPR, VPC/AFC, and I'm going lean when i get around 5k rpm. It starts going lean and knocking like crazy. If I stay on it, it'll knock up in the 30's. I have no idea why. The fuel pump is brand new.. The FPR has 5k miles on it. My AFC settings are rediculous. No matter what I set it at I keep going lean up top. Fuel Pressure is at 38 right now with the vaccum hose off. I have no idea what's going on. Then again, I really haven't taken the time to try diagnosing it. I was going to hook an extrernal gauge up to the FPR so I can verify that fuel pressure is increasing at a 1:1 ratio with boost.
