Just curious, I did a search and couldn't find anything. I know that some people have rebuilt 7 bolt motors and am wondering if any that were rebuilt have ever walked.
Thanks

When asking this question you need to get pertinant and good information. The one thing that always needs to be asked is what was the crank endplay after it "walked". Most will just blow up a 7 bolt and claim CW, hence why so many people are scared of it and threads like this get started. Most of the cars that have "walked" never have the end play checked so it could have been a host of other problems tht killed it, but CW is easy to just throw out there.

What was the crank end play when you pulled the motor out?

My rebuilt 7 bolt with 9k on the clock, 450mi walked after a 2600 install. all the symptoms of cw and the center thrust even siezed on me when I was driving. One thrust side of the thrust was ground razor sharp and was half the thickness of the other side. I think it was mostly the clutch but the motor should have been able to hold it for a little while longer than that. After the 2600 install the car started to drop a few hundred rpm when ever the clutch was pushed in and a few times it killed when the clutch was depressed.

The only reason I ask is because my stock 7 bolt is walking. It is out of spec at 123k miles and the CEL light will go on mostly during left turns. I am getting a new motor which is another 7 bolt, but this one is built and am wondering if anyone has ran into endplay or crankwalk with a rebuilt 7 bolt. I know that eagle rods want you to use 1st gen bearing, so I'm trying to find out if this makes a difference or not.

i have a 7bolt fully built with eagle rods and je pistons. engine runs strong im at 9000miles now and still get high oil pressure. i have the clutch switch disconnected and have my crank underground .25mm and no balance shafts. I think CW is so overrated now. just dont put a stiff clutch in there, dont ride your clutch too much and watch all your gauges/ keep good maintenance and you'll be fine.

U can see my mods just done in profile and I put a 2600 in mine and it Idles down 500rpm but doesn't die or anything when I turn to the left. Had it running for one day after all my mods but didn't put my ARP head studs in and good gasket and got the boost up to 18 psi then the head gasket blew LOL. Its all apart now to do balance shafts and do head gasket. I bought extra insurance when I bought the car and to my surprise it covers crank walk. But its only good for 2000 more miles or the summer of 08, witch ever comes first.

Did balance shafts last week and was cleaning the oil pan and the side of the thrust bearing is in the bottom of it. 3/16 end play. Another victom of crank walk.
