57 trim on stock rebuilt 7bolt?

i have a stock rebuilt 7 bolt motor with a bout 10k on it. i was considering bolting up a holset 57trim turbo with some 660cc injectors. if i did this install plus the required other fuel mods and an AFC would i be able to drive this car every day and not have to worry about motor problems?
 
well if you're just talking about motor reliability. It all depends on how high you want to boost it.
But the lag is gonna be bad for a street car with no real supporting mods ....You really need to do other things 1st. I think you would get better performace for your money, if you get a bunch of supporting mods to go along with the turbo you already have ....that would work better. Check this....

I dont think you have a 14b, but this goes to show what can be done :thumb:
 
well everyday id probably run around 18 - 20psi after i change my head gasket. ### do u think?

Its still hard to say how much you can run. Boost is not just boost.
A 14b can make 20psi, but it has to work really hard to do it, and the air is hot, so it doesn't have alot of oxygen in it. (not very efficient at 20psi)
A 57trim can make 20psi, and that easy for it to do. So the air is cool, and its much more efficient at 20psi
So you see... Not all boost is created equal.

Maybe you could do 15-17psi?
I dont think I'd try over 18psi with the kinda skimpy(not intended a insult) set-up you are talking about.
 
no i dont have a 14b. i just have a basically stock 2g talon with intake catback and all the stage 0 stuff done. thanks for the help. would you recomend doing a 20g kit with 660s as an every day driver on similar boost?
 
with your 16g what size injectors and fuel pump are you using? also u have an afc right?
 
You will need bigger injectors with a 57 trim 750cc or 850cc. Also a upgraded intercooler would be a really really good idea and DSMlink. I had 750cc in my car and the AFC didn't work very well in my opinion. As far as reliabilty goes that will have a whole lot to do with your tuning and how you drive.
 
well i already have a front mount also... i forgot to mention that with a 1g crushed bov. the only reason i was considering the 57 trim was because my friend has one and would sell me it for 250$ with no shaft play. would i be able to put the 57 trim on my stock mani wit an adaptor plate and run 18-20psi everday?
 
would i be able to use the stock mani with an adaptor plate or should i jsut buy a whole new manifold? also should i use an internal waste gate or external?
 
You really need to focus on supporting mods before you get that turbo. Exhaust, boost controller, gauge, downpipe, FMIC, BOV, clutch, fuel mods, tuning mods, etc.
 
dgajre777 if you were to read the whole post you would notice that i listed my mods such as a fmic 1g bov exhaust and afc...all i would need is my MBC and fuel delivery which everyone else already covered for me. thanks tho.

Cool! I just saw your profile. My bad. With that turbo if you want to max it out, As mentioned earlier, I'd recommed 720ccs and either ECU Plus or DSMLink or Stage 3 DSMChips and SAFC.
