So was was looking into some fifty trim's and ran acrosse some on ebay. They are the T4 57 trim for a whole 300 dollars. Has anyone bought one like this? The price seems so cheap. Would i be able to rely on it to last? And my last question is what rpm would i be looking at to reach full boost? 4200? Thanks

Something cheap from ebay will only last as long as the quality of the turbo, and how well you take care of it, allow. Also, what ballpark rpm you'd reach full boost all depends on how much boost you're trying to reach. For example, it'll spool to 15 psi before it spools to 25 psi.

XSPower makes good intercoolers and piping, but I wouldn't turn to them for anything more than that. Spend the extra money and get something that will last and come witn a warrenty.

If your on a budget, pick up a good used unit from someone on here...just make sure it's not an eBay unit.

I was thinking about 18lbs. But i dont want something that will not reach a full boost before like 4300 rmp. I know the 50 trims have some lag to them im just not looking for something way to much lag.

You say a 50 trim has too much lag and you're considering a 57? WTF 18lbs on a 57 trim is a waste of a turbo. Those turbos are meant to be run 27lbs or higher.

If I were you, I'd save the cash and spend it on something like DSMlink (probably the best mod you'll ever do), and upgrading your fuel system. With DSMlink you'd be able to run a big injector, like 850cc's or even 1000 cc's, without any issue. Then you'll never have to upgrade your injectors, and will be ready for something bigger. This is all just my opinion though.

seriously I bought a used pte 50 trim unit for almost double that and 2 months later had to have it rebuild thanks to a failed thrust bearing :(

im thinking of giving them a try and getting them inspected on my set up for my chevelle, lemme know if you get it.

That is why I went with the Green back then.

I just ruined my 57 trim, major shaft play lasted about 2 years, I recently upgraded to a Holset HX40 which had over 100,000 k's it had no shaftplay so If you're worried about how long its going to last do a search on holset's, they go cheap on ebay, flow 72lbs/min and last forever.

The rule of thumb is when it comes to eBay...

Don't buy anything that has moving parts or has the potential to kill you.

i.e. turbo can blow up engine and set car on fire potentially trapping you in a fiery grave of DSM. ;)

Ebay isnt a bad place to get things... you just have to know what your getting and do your research and be a "ebay veteran" so you are able to pick out the crap from the rest of the things... so it really all depends. Some things just arent meant to be purchased off ebay....

I had one on my car pushing only 16lbs of boost and it went sour, only after 200 miles if that. My buddy had another one the exact same, and it has been holding up so far, but only 100 miles have been driven. I'll let you know if this goes too.

I wouldn't go with the 57 trim from ebay but I've heard alot of good things about the 50 trim from ebay. My buddy has had his 50 trim ebay turbo on for 11 months now with no problems. So I guess you just have to be a lucky one.

Ebay turbos are no good, I bought a 60-1 off of there and 1000 miles down the road it already had some good shaft play and the oil feed bolt was backing out from stripping.

Ya i have the Evo 3 from ebay and it has been running amazing. It just time to go bigger Ha. But i will let you guy know if i get one and how it goes.
