The Aerocatch pins are nice, but I don't know of anyone who has installed them in the same location as my hood pins.

As for drilling holes on a CF hood, get the smallest bit, use the slowest RPM on your drill and go slow. I used a cordless 18V drill on mine.

Yeah as I figured a more areodynamic way of fasting the hood securely looks good but I don't know if I could drill holes in my $500 carbon fiber vented hood.:(
Any type of hood pin is going to require you to drill into the hood.
It's not that big of a deal - it's just a hood. ;)

That $500 hood wont be worth anything if your latch breaks and the hood flys up at any speed. I have read and seen numerous times where a carbon fiber hoods latch has broke at speed and flew up ruining the hood, hinges, windshield, and part of the roof. So drilling a small hole into your $500 hood could save you a ton in the long run.

This is why I don't have any hood pins LOL. I do like the way this looks and I'm trying to trap higher speeds with this car when it's finally done so I might look into these.

Bad idea.

Invest the money in some quality pins. Cheaper than repairing the car and possibly wrecking it.

Thanks for all the replies Gents... Great Pictures.. They are being mounted like the ones on the white car.!!!!! I will have them completed with pics by this weekend!

ROFL quality. What is this one guy talking about that I should get pins and not these??? Are pins a better option?

Edit: by the way the hood still looks good where's the damage LOLol

I talked to this guy when I met him a few years ago, he said that he didn't latch the hood all the way down before he went for a drive and the hood flew up at 30 MPH.

Hood pins are hood pins, they keep the hood down if anything happens to the latch or if you forget to latch the hood down all the way.

Yeah I understand. I'm just gonna go ahead and have someone that's done them before do it when I"m not around so I'll be like that looks nice and won't be picturing them drilling into my hood. Look I haven't even put it on.

My VIS OEM style hood is warped and only 3 bolts go in. Where the latch catches its a lil off center, I think that is what is keeping mine down. VIS = Garbage sometimes.

I've gone over 100 and it hasn't flown up...yet ROFL

Funny thing is I bought Sparco pins and they are collecting dust.

I just purchased the same hood.

Make sure you get it from Key Composites Group this thing came wrapped extra good and got here in a timely manner and is some of the highest quality CF I have seen. I am getting a hatch and actually kinda disapointed they don't make one cause that way I know the hood and hatch would match good. Anyone who thinks CF is CF should see this thing in person compared to some other stuff I have seen def looks better. Maybe it's teh clear coat they put on top or something but def GREAT quality stuff:thumb:

About these aerocatch locks, I see theres not much curve to them..

I have this hood

And have my current pins going through the 2 humps somewhat... Would getting these aerocatch locks be a bad idea?( they won't sit flush with the hood?

Does your fit? Mine is horrible. I picked mine up from CHASER..aka aerokits.net....key composites....etc.... Mine is not even close. Would you ming snapping some picutres of yours (if mounted)..... It was wrapped up good besides that, the carbon only had two small waves... The heat extractor wholes are not even close to being geometrical. I am pretty disappointed... When I saw the fit, I actually laughed..That is how bad it is.. The hood is crap.. I am looking for another place to get a 2G oem verison... (maybe it is easier to find a good one)

WTF

WTF[/QUOTE]

Chaser??? Aerokits.net??? Mine was straight from keycomposite group. I can not vouch for these other guys and they may claim to have the exact hood but they do not. Mine is not mounted but I can take it and mock fit it and see. What do you mean the carbon only had two small waves? You can see from the picture that my heat extractor holes are cool.

eBay Motors: AEROCATCH FLUSH HOOD PINS RACE LATCH WITH KEY LOCK (item 130220985026 end time May-15-08 00:26:25 PDT)

I think these are the ones that I will be picking up if I go the areo pin style but like it was said my hood has a slight hump so I don't know if they would mount flush.
