Car runs and idles perfect, when i rev it in neutral or pull off aggresively in 1st gear it shoots a tiny puff of white smoke out the exhaust. Well i was driving the other day, and i noticed a tiny puddle of coolant on the ground, it hasnt been leaking ever since however. Can anyone point out what this might me or is this somewhat normal, i have 76k on my t25 btw.

Maybe your coolant overflow tank is too full... white smoke usually means your headgasket is blown and that you are burning coolant.

If it only puts out white smoke first thing in the morning, that could be condensation in the exhaust. If it's all the time, coolant is finding its way into the exhaust... could be a blown head gasket, cracked head, or any number of other things. But check your coolant level religiously now. It's gonna start going down.

Yes it is more than likely the head gasket. You could check for pressure in the coolant system as well. If there is pressure then it could be that pressure from the cylinders is making its way into the coolant through the bad head gasket.

how expensive is that to replace
depends, if it truly is the headgasket then to do it right prob about 200-300 to cheap out approx 60-70. but we all know what cheaping out does usually to dsm's. doing it right would involve removing the head taking it to a machine shop and having it tested, new gaskets, and new head bolts.

before going ahead and replacing the head gasket, you might wanna make sure that it is that first. Where exactly is the coolant coming from?Is the puddle coming from the drivers side...middle, where? Theres still the chance that it could be a leaking water pump or a leak in the water pipe or anything? Also like mentioned before does this white smoke come in the morning like while the car is warming up and gone after its full warmed up or is it like all the time.

I have the same problem, mine is constant. Whenever I rev it while in neutral, or just regular driving, I leave a huge cloud of smoke. When I take off at a stop sign it reminds me of movies when the car leaves a smoke screen to escape. Its honestly almost that bad LOL. My coolant needs filling up quite often, I was wondering if leaving this is a bad thing to do? I don't mind adding coolant, but I was wondering if doing this is damaging other parts of the car? If needed I will get the head gasket changed.

yeah that is a good idea, check your oil dipstick and see if it looks like any coolant has mixed in with your oil, you can also check the coolant reservior as well for any signs of collant w/ oil mixture. If there is a mixture that more than likely means your head gasket is on its way out. But once again where is that puddle located under the car?

its gonna kinda thinner and greenish tint. I have the same smoking problem I'm replacing my head gasket probably tomorrow woohoo. I however have more signs that it is my headgasket i have oil leaking on the block and i have oil in my coolant. My oil was that greenish tint when i changed it last and i have that smoking problem alot. :dsm:

yea normal oil color no hint of anything else, but i'll check it again. Whats really weird is that when i was driving i noticed some smoke coming out of the driver side portion of the hood. It was like that for 2 seconds, and hasnt appeared since.

have you had any overheating problems at all recently? I still dont beleive its 100% head gasket. Id check to see where that leak was coming from. If its on the driver side theres still that chance that its just a leaking water pump or the water pipe. Is there any coolant running down your oil filter housing or timing belt cover or oil pan? A leaking pump will also cause you to lose coolant in your reservior like you are mentioning and will require you to fill it up every other day or so. Even though the white smoke is an indication of a possible bad head gasket and mabye you do have one, i beleive you also need to check where that leak is coming from and what is causing that smoke from your engine that you saw.

I would actually check the turbo before going ahead and getting the head gasket bro. I have the same problem with blowing white smoke when I shift gears and rev it up and its my turbo. I also have the t-25, and its definitely my turbo. Just giving you a heads up, have that checked.

I can't believe noone's instructed him to do a compression test?!
Christ, do the things that won't cost you anything before you go ripping the head off of your engine for no reason.
