Car runs and idles perfect, when i rev it in neutral or pull off aggresively in 1st gear it shoots a tiny puff of white smoke out the exhaust. Well i was driving the other day, and i noticed a tiny puddle of coolant on the ground, it hasnt been leaking ever since however. Can anyone point out what this might me or is this somewhat normal, i have 76k on my t25 btw.

I'm going to jump in on this thread as well. I have white smoke comming out of the exhaust as well, at idle and especially revving. I did a compression check and got these numbers:

~150 ~140 ~140 ~150
170 170 170 170 with cap full of oil.

I just put on a fully built cylinder head and the normal Headgasket from the dealer with some ARP studs. I'm going to go home and check for shaft play on the turbo as the car has 91k miles on it and I'm pretty sure it was abused before I got it. How can you test the turbo to see if it needs replacement?

I can't believe noone's instructed him to do a compression test?!
Christ, do the things that won't cost you anything before you go ripping the head off of your engine for no reason.

I was just going to say that. What is this site coming to?? Do a compression test. They should be all around 150. A compression test will not show a cracked head however. From reading this, it sounds like you have no reason to have a cracked head. An occasional puff of smoke probably isn't a head gasket. Report back

When my turbo blew I had white smoke coming from under the hood and out the exhaust. I'd check that because it really doesn't sound like its your headgasket at all.

Please don't listen to people who jump to conclusions just because a similar symptom lead to a worse problem for them. This past weekend I had the same exact thing going on in my 1G, all I did was think about it and tried to troubleshoot step by step. First I looked for obvious leaks, then found every coolant line I could and watched for leaks as I poured coolant into the system. Well, there it was, coolant streaming out steadily from BOTH of the lines that run along side the head and go to the front of the head (not sure on 2G setup how similar it is). Replaced the 2 hoses, new clamps, 10 bucks, done. People told me as well it was definitely the headgasket, trust your own work before anyone else's advice. That kinda contradicts my post though doesn't it? ROFL

o so your oil cooler line im gonna assume (the rubber one?), well that would explain those puffs of smoke from your drivers side under the hood happening for about 2 seconds like you mentioned prbably. And it also seems as if your turbo is slowly on its way out as well.

might be the head gasket....i know some people have a problem of having too much collant in it....and have you tried to fluch out the coolant and start all over?? there might be a air bubble in it....if the white smoke doesnt last too long....
