Which would be best for me, Safc1 or Safc 2?

You can see my mods in my profile but i'm in the market for one of these. The price diff is about $100 so its not back breaking. I just need to know which direction I need to go into.

My main use for my car is day to day. I plan on participating in Road racing and some drag.

Can someone help me out?

go big or go home... no serioulsy i think the 2nd gen will do better then the first gen of afc's just from the fact that it has had time to improve. I dont see any advantage of getting the first one since you said yourself the price was not much differnt. Thats my opinion on it.

I've tossed around the idea myself. 200rpm vs 500rpm increments. 2 setting modes(thats the real deal maker for me). No doubt I'll be getting a SAFC-II, I'd really like to have two selectable trim setups.

yep... get the SAFC2 since you can actually see knock..
