hi, i have a 91 talon im going to be swapping over to manuel. is there a specific transmission to go with on these? i have a 4 bolt lsd goin with the swap. but im not sure about the spline shaft, and all that jazz. I was wondering if you can put different spline shafts in a transfer case? considering my auto already has the t-case, and driveshaft?

any help is appreciated.

Yeah, ive already swapped to the 14b turbo. i bought a 5 speed ecu when i bought dsmlink. im still waiting on my fuel though. its still all stock. my auto tranny went out since the TCU took a crap. and for what its worth finding a new auto tranny close to me. it'll cost 1100 just to get the tranny working. so im just going to swap to manuel since i have 3 5 speeds in my area.

You don't have to swap the tranny if the tcu went out..Just find another tcu, it runs the auto tranny..Unless you want a 5speed..But you will need to swap in 450 injectors, and a fpr off a manual car..Otherwise your going to max out the 390's really quick..

The exhuast manifold and 02 housing are junk on the auto cars..My suggestion would be to get one from a manual 1g, or getting the 2g replacements..

the tranny was having problems to begin with, and the tcu going out was the cherry on top. either way i've wanted to swap in a 5 speed so badly LOL. yea i've already swapped the exhaust manifold, and 02 from a 5 speed. i wasn't worried so much about maxing out my injectors bc i was only DD'ing it. but. it is possible to get a 23 spline tranny, and 23 spline output shaft, and actually swap out the existing shaft in my auto t-case?

Nope, you'll need a manual t-case. Let me know when you want to sell the auto t-case, I may be interested.

When you have a 23 tranny, it contains the output shaft. The t-case has a splined coupler (female) that the tranny's output shaft slides into. Not sure if it matters when you swapping auto to manual but the motor mounts are different as well.

Edit: If your serious about swapping to a manual I've got most of the parts you need as I just swapped my car over to automatic. PM me if you're interested and maybe we'll work something out. Things I have:

-clutch master cylinder
-clutch slave cylinder
-clutch line w/braided stainless steel
-6 bolt flywheel
-used 2600 pp
-used good condition clutch disk
-4 bolt rear

I don't have a transmission as I broke my last five speed and I already sold my 23 spline t-case. I have two 22 spline t-cases though.

ok ill deff let you know when its out of the car.

so it's best to just find a tranny + t-case combo? and on the end of the t-case where the driveshaft will mesh. are there any differences between the 5 speed and auto?

and is there any specific spline transission i should be looking for, for my 91?

If you plan on making some big power, you'll want to find a transmission that has a 23 spline output shaft. Preferably late 91-92 as they have the stronger 3-4 gear/hub/slider. But you can get by just fine with a 22 spline 5 speed tranny if you don't shift like a mad man.

Driveshaft's are the same and the axles will work with both tranny's as well. You'll need the pedal assembly, shift fork, pivot ball, tob and all that shit as well.

ok. i have a parts car sitting in my driveway, with all that stuff. as of now i need these parts

6 bolt flywheel.
flywheel bolts

clutch

front axels for 5 speed?

t-case

and tranny.

im going down to southern california in mid June. if your still intersted in my tcase, maybe we can see about getting together so i can buy some parts off you/trade?

Yeah definitely, I'll PM you my phone # and you can hit me up when the time comes. I don't anticipate selling any of the stuff I have so it should still be sitting there.

Not for the manual to auto swap, nope. My original axles are in there and working just fine.

I did have to swap out the front and rear roll stop motor mounts as well as the transmission mount.

having that much more control over the car.

That can be a bad thing too haha.

That's why I swapped mine. But I must admit it's not quite as fun out on the street or cruising around town. But it really shines out at the track.

Yep and why i sold my built 5 spd car for an auto. Starting over sucks, but i love launching the auto and the extremely firm shifts. Auto all the way :hellyeah:

Besides if the tcu was bad all you had to do was buy the roadsurge box and kill two birds with one stone. Complete control over shifting and wont need a tcu at all. Plus 100% line pressure.

Or, what I did, was wire up the tranny with the Kiggly "manumatic" mod and use a hurst promatic ratchet shifter. My car was originally a 5 speed and my donor auto car had a dead TCU. Full line pressure and manual mode for me all day :sneaky:

yeah, but my car will probably never see anything over 350hp. its my DD.

same exact thing to my car. the 100% line pressure ruined the bearings, and now there is something clunking around in the tranny
