2G Which trans to buy

I bought a 1999 spyder with a 4g64. The person I bought it from put a new clutch in but didn’t put fluid in the trans and now it won’t go in 5th or revers and really doesn’t like 1st or 3rd. I feel like I should probably put a new trans in it but I’m not sure if it can use one from a 4g63 or not and it’s proving difficult to find this information. I don’t want to buy one that won’t work.

First there a few things to do before you say trans is done, buy the transmission to replaced your car. you got a 1999 spyder get the one for your year make and model.

You can easily swap to the f5m33 (turbo 2g fwd trans). The axles are different size though, so you'll need to swap to turbo axles. But before you do all that, inspect your shift linkage. It would suck to do that much work to find out that it was a simple problem.
