like how much cooler... Because from my knowledge you dont want to run too cool because the engine has to be at an operating temperature, and I think your car runs richer when the ecu sees its not in that operating temperature so therefore Id even think less power.
I believe you dont want to go any lower than 180 degrees F, so a 180 theromstate would be the lowest I say... Id just stick with the stock 190 though, but depends on if you have a performance radiator, and the type of coolant your using, and oil cooling system your using... If you truely want to be cooler upgrade your radiator, radiator fluids, and cooling fans and keep the fans on direct port, my cooling fans are direct ported ( meaning once ignition is on both fans kick on and stay on until ign is off ) why wait for it to get hot you know.....
 
To be honest, stick with the stock thermostat temperature rating. The factory has it right and have done hundrends possibly thousands of hours of testing before deciding which part to put on.

If you put a thermostat temperature rating that is lower then 180, you will have worse gas mileage due to over cooling.

I would just get the stock 190 or 195 and just upgrade the radiator, radiator cap and get some new radiator hoses while your in there.

Maybe if we see your temps now well see theres no reason to run cooler
or vice versa...


You didn't say the reasons why not to run too low of a thermostat.
 
idk im going to be driving my dsm a lot to work and back home so like an hour each way so i wanted to run cooler, since its been like 80 an 90s in wisconsin didnt want it to over heat thank you everybody nick
