i would really like some opinions on what i should do to my car first.... i need 4 struts i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what ones i should go with?? and motor wise i was wondering what i should do first?? im kinda new to all this and my friends are all telling me different things i should do i was just looking for some help P/M me with anything you might have thanks!!ROFL

you should go with a 4g63 6bolt block to start off with. everyone has there generations of the dsms they like but i got to go with the 1st gen talon tsi or gsx its kinda worthless to put money into anything else than a awd.

Struts I cant answer for.

As for your motor, really you dont need to do anything to the motor itself (other than maintence) to make plenty of power and go fast. You should really check out the upgrade path here Tech Guide: 1G 4G63t Upgrades - DSMtuners

It really depends on your goals for the car and a little background might help better answer specifics. How long have you had the car? Check the dyno lits and time slip lists for a few cars that are close to your goals and see what mods those people have on their cars and that should give you a good idea of what parts are capable of your goals.

If he has a 90- mid 92, it's already a 6-bolt (If it's still stock). For an all out drag car, an AWD would definitely be the better choice but, a fwd can be beast too. They can both be monsters on the track and the street.

Agreed he should have a 6 bolt already and an AWD is a street king red light to red light. It can jump two car lengths off the line while the other guy is still spinning and then its next to impossible for him to come back on ya. :)

Yes you are right i should have been clearer 90-92 and a half late 92 and upp was 7 bolt. but ya dont doubt the front wheel drive turbo it can run like a raped ape. i just perfer awd myslef for the great launch LOL..

I have an AGX strut on my car and i have no complaints. It keeps her nice and smooth even on rough roads at pretty decent speeds. I definitely recommend it.

Engine wise: Boost gauge for sure, also a K&N intake. It's probably on of the most affordable parts you can purchase and has the greatest durability. I can promise it will be the only Air Filter you'll need. You'll definitely feel the difference. Other than that, an exhaust is and easy way to get some of the UMP your looking for :thumb:

Hope it helped.

alright i should have mentioned this before....i have a slow boy short block, 2g mas, safc2, boost egt water gauges, 3in turbo back exhaust slotted roters all the way around wally 255 fuel pump, slim line fan, slowboy MBC ....ive had the car about 3 weeks now and ive only done just some odds and ends fixed the headlight motors, took things off i didnt need, i was really just looking for mid 12's to low 12's and be able to drive it everyday with out having to worry about it blowing up on me with the occasional honda that thinks its fast wanting to raceLOL, but thats the backround on it so far i was just looking for some opinions thanks for all who have told me:thumb: as of right now i was drving with my buddy and he turned up the fuel by my safc and now i am pushing 25lbs...is that a good or bad thing and should i turn it down??

Before you go turning up the boost what are you using to monitor/log the engine?

Thats a lot of mods, so Id say its far from stock. Do you know what turbo the car has on it... probably not a stock 14b if you are able to hit 25psi and hold it and need a SAFC and 2G MAS. What size injectors are you using?

And if you have a slowboy shortblock, then you dont need to do a thing to the motor.... maybe some bigger cams in the head if that hasnt been done. Id leave it alone, as you probably have everything you need to run 12's and blow the doors off most every other street car.

the kid i got it off of said it has a big 16 on it...and i actually have nothing to monitor the engine.. thats why im worried:barf: as for the injectors i dont have to slightest clue, like i said im pretty much new to all this sorry:sosad:

I would turn the boost down to stock levels until you find out what injectors you are running and get a way to monitor the engine. Just turning up the boost without KNOWING what the engine is doing is a great way to lose a motor.

25 psi is overboosting a 16g a bit even if you can monitor it. Its just not efficient at that boost level, not to mention if you dont have a Front Mount InterCooler then its just blowing lots of hot air anyways. Dont let your friends goof around with your car unless they are gonna pay for the rebuild. You've probably spent a lot of money on this car and dont want to lose it to ignorance, but thats your call man.

i have never even turned the boost up or down and to be complety honest the kid i got it from had no idea about the car at all!!!:tease: i got it for 1800ROFL and my next investment will be the punishment fmic kit! so what your saying is 25lbs is bad right now!? ### i hit it once or twice never stayin at WOT i didnt even know it was at 25 till my buddie told me. before turning up the fuel i was at 22lbs is that a better number?? and whats the easyest way to find out about what injectors i have? i appriciate the concern about friends and cars too!!

If you're not gonna autocross with it don't waste the money on the AGXs, I just replaced all my struts with KYB GR-2s, cost me under 200 bucks and was a good day project.

i would also go with the kyb gr-2s, +1 on them, awesome product, i have those and h&r springs and couldnt be happier with how it handles, good luck man

Different injector sizes have different color tops.

pink - 240cc - (1g 2.0Ln/t)
tan - 390cc - (1g turbo auto)
blue - 450cc - (1g turbo m/t)
black - 450cc - (2g turbo)
yellow - 510cc - (evo 1-3)
pink - 560cc - (evo 7-9)

You can change the fuel all you want with the SAFC but until you know what size injectors it's dangerous to do that. Look into getting an AFPR as well since you have the 255.

Keep the boost under 15psi until the above is met. The best way to find out what injectors you have is to take some pictures of them and post it.

If you don't have a logger then you need to get one. Without it you have no idea how your car is actually running. You could boost 22 and 25psi safely right now perhaps but on a logger you could be knocking at 24 and 25psi. Things you need to know, you know.

The punishment kit is nice but before you go and buy any more mods make sure all of the maintenance is up to date regardless of the what the previous owner said and get any thing repaired that needs be done. When was the timing belt setup last replaced?

Good luck and keep it updated.

Get a logger and maybe a wideband o2 sensor for a quick reference. I agree on an AFPR also since you are running a 255lph pump.

As far as never having turned the boost up or down, now is the time. On your Slowboy Racing MBC there is a single knob at the top, turn it to the left to lower the boost. Turn it out a little at a time and then make a test run to see were you boost is. Repeat this until your boost is down around 15psi until you get the above mentioned parts. You don't want to blow your engine.

Struts, the AGX's are ok, a little rough on the street though. I have no experience with any other struts.

The OP is asking about struts and what to do to his engine. If you have something useful to say then say it but stop trying to make this an AWD > FWD discussion.

I put KYB GR-2s on mine, they are a little stiffer than stock but not to harsh. I picked up a set of 4 on ebay for $175 shipped back in January. On a side note though I stuck with the stock springs (if you saw the roads around here you would understand). Also being a 20yr old car youre going to want to look into front strut mounts, strut boots and the top bushings in the rear, I know mine were all crusty so I replaced everything.

if you want rear shocks i have 2 brand new ones, and a 6 bolt block....etc.etc.etc

let me know send me a pm
