Which struts to use? Illumina's or AGX's?

I would like to know what different people think about the struts. I can get both for the same price, just wondering any bad issues or reliability things.

I have never dealt with the Illuminas but I can vouch for the AGX's. I have had good dealings with the AGX's in the past.

Id call RRE and ask them about the AGX's. Back in the day they had an issue on the 2g fronts with the length of the strut being too long( I believe thats what they said when I talked to them, its been a really long time). Anyway, I got the Illuminas on my car and they are very nice, a little weak compared to the AGX's(on 1g's) but they are still nice. If the AGX's have been fixed for the 2g's, Ill seriously consider getting those and selling my Illumina's.

So the majority like the Illuminas, but the AGX's were wrong in the design way back when RRE used them and who knows how long that has been. They are specialists so I might call them and ask them. Keep posting though.

I have the AGX's, and if I had to do it again I think I would go for Koni's or some coilover.
I had one go bad in the first month I had them. After that they have been not bad but if you turn up the damping the car is way to rough on the road. They do work well on the track though considering they're inexpensive struts. The ride quality will have a lot to do with the type of spring you use. Choose wisely.

For a 2G, Illuminas. I went through two sets of AGX's. When I replaced the second set three of them were blown....

Anyway, as far as the AGX's being too long, that was fixed a long time ago.

From what I have seen most people like agx's on a 1g, and illumina's on a 2g. I have a 2g so I got illuminas.

I will say Illumina because I trust tokico as a company way more than kyb. Plus they have lifetime warranty.
