I am going to be buying another mitsu product I have narrowed it down to another Dsm, Conquest/starion, or stealth/3000gt. I can only buy one what do you all think which one?

how much money do you have? ;)

the 3s cars are great; but tend to be on a the pricier side if you want to do anything with them.

the dsm.. great cars to tinker with; and a bit easier on the wallet, as long as you don't inherit someone else's mess

the starquests: rwd + boost = :D however, not as much is available for those cars like you see with the dsm. However you could 4g63 swap it.

If you want a real PITA to work on go with the 3000. They're pretty heavy, and the engine bays are cramped and the trannys are as strong as glass.

I've never been in a conquest/starion, so I can't comment on them, but my votes a dsm.

Really ? I heard the 3s's had one of the strongest transmissions ever ? maybe it was the transax or something I heard...idk.

Well i have found a stealth rt/tt for 1450 body is good and interior is good just timing belt broke and bent valves. As for the starion i found one 2800 mint condition silver has been modded got bigger front mount and a 16g 1g maf. As for a dsm I found a 90 awd talon black and silver two tone guy doesnt know whats wrong with it for 450 or a 92 awd white eclispe a buddy has selling it for 2500 body is a little rough its got a 2g head with a t25 all stock been lowered and got nice rims.

The 6 speed holds up about as well as a WRX tranny does. They're not strong. Also the AWS system is useless and most of the 3s guys just remove it.

The car definitely had good intentions, however, there wasn't enough R&D done in the system to make it useful to the performance enthusiast.

Doing the head/timing on the stealth isn't fun. Lots of shit to remove to get at it, then you gotta make sure it's all back together. :banghead:

I hope no one thinks I'm just bashing the 3k guys. I'd love to have one, but I own a 3g GT with the 6g72, so I get my hands around working on the 7X series motors and they aren't fun to work on.

id go with the 1990 talon at $450 even if whats wrong with it is not worth fixing you could part it out and make your money back, it could be a real strong buy if it was something little

They had problems with 3rd gear synchros.

The 2nd gen cars (94-99) got the 6-speed trans and a 4 bolt main block as opposed to the 2 bolt main and 5 speed in the early cars.

I have a 98 gsx and an 89 conquest tsi. There is no fair way to compare these two cars because each one is a different beast entirely.

The gsx just wants to run. It is snappy and the throttle response/seat of your pants feel is great. It is nice having newer amenities like cruise control and stuff with the newer car as well. It handles like a champ with the awd and with basic bolt ons, it is very competitive in the street.

The conquest, on the other hand, is just macho feeling and you feel almost empowered by driving the car. It turns heads because people don't know what it is usually and I have straight pipes on it so it sounds like an old school muscle car. The rwd is a lot of fun too because you can get loose all the time. Stock, the car is plenty of fun and capable of donuts.

The smooth, sexy curves of the eclipse and the boxed, aged look of the conquest compliment each other well in my driveway. I think that any mitsu product you buy will be quality, so making that decision depends on what you intend on using the car for.

Def get a StarQuest. I had an 87 Conquest. It wasn't that quick (stock, auto, no intercooler) but the previous owner had kept the interior mint. You can keep them super clean and if you swap a 4g63 into them I can only imagine the fun!

Of course the RWD was really fun but if you find an AWD one that would be something rare, which is always a perk to owning a car.
