If you had to choose between these 2 cars which would you take?

1996 Eclipse Non-Turbo

OR

1990 Camaro IROC-Z

I just want to know from a modding stand point - is there a large aftermarket for that kind of camaro?

I really want a turbo awd eclipse/talon but they are too expensive for me

are you looking to race? if you figure you would buy a n/a eclipse now and turbo it later when you have money i think thats a bad move. save up and get a turbo awd. if money is an issue go for a 1g awd car, they're cheap and 90-92.5 use 6 bolts. if it were me and both of those cars were infront of me and i HAD to pick 1, it would be the iroc. i don't even like american cars but i dislike the iroc less than i dislike the n/a eclipse.

If the iroc has a 5.7, go for it. If it is the 5.0 version, I would probably get the dsm. Ultimately, it depends on your future plans for either car.

shop around man i am sure you can find and alright 1g for around 2k my boy todd just bought one in n.c for 1400 i belive its a 94 tsi awd it had a bad timing belt a few other small things but was a great deal just gotta be patiant but good luck hey i got a 92 tsi i will seel you for 3800 mods are in my pro pics are in the hang out under post your sexy 1g at the top of page 4 its black just look for my sn

Well...what's your price range? Also what are these cars going for. Another thing to look at is CARFAX.com or KBB.com. The second one is kelly blue book. You'll like both of these when it comes to buying a car. I found a 1997 GST for 6700 that was in excellent condition. This might be too much for you but might not. There are other turbos besides the AWD. You could get a GST it just wouldn't be as good on the 60'.

However, to answer your question; get the Iroc...period. It's that simple. They're not as good a car but it's definately better than a n/t eclipse.

I'd go with the IROC. Even if it has the 305, you can still get a 350 for cheap and just drop it in. That's what I did with my 84 Z28.

well I am looking for a 2g under $8000 CDN - I'll take talon or eclipse, I don't care which - The 96 eclipse is $3900 and the camaro is $3500 - I was considering the non-turbo because the camaro eats gas like crazy

Last year I saw a bunch of 2g Gsx's for sale under $6000CDN - should have bought one then

If its tuned port injection, its not just a drop in affair. 350 would require at least 24lb/hr injectors and a reprogrammed eprom. The 305 has 19lb/hr injectors stock and the stock eprom is too poor of a program to run the 305 properly. Ive had several late 80's-early 90's f bodies. I only speak from experience.

EDIT: Keep in mind he is in Canada. Any awd/turbo is few and far between. Mst 1g's are lready rusted out and in the boneyard. If he does find one in good condition, selling price will be way more than what it is worth in the states.

I'd take a 1st gen turbo AWD anyday over a 2nd Gen N/T. Unless of course you're just going for looks and don't care much about performance mods. Thats just me though.

If I were to go with a 1g awd I would definitely need to get a body kit - 1g's look nasty in my opinion . Can somebody post some pics of 1g's with body kits?

Well I agree on the selection. I dont like either cars. I'm not sure what your limit to spend is and the rating was in my zip code by how about looking at 98 Z28 LS1 camaro. I loved the car and didnt find much of anything that could take me on the street. ( Also 100 shot hooks up real nice) If thats a little pricy for you then you might look at a 95-97 Z28. Lots of after market parts and you can get some great hp.

WOW 1g's are cheap! I just found a whole bunch of AWD talons for under $3000CDN! Maybe I will go this way...
