which flywheel would you pick? ACT or Fidanza

Depends on how you use your car. If your car is mainly a street driven car and occasional weekend drag car, I would choose an ACT Streetlite flywheel as it is about 12.5 lbs and you won't loose too much low RPM driveablity while gaining some engine responsiveness. If you spend alot of time at the track, the Fidanza may better suit your needs as it weighs 8.5 lbs or so which helps the engine rev faster. The tradeoff though is that you lose low RPM driveability which makes things like driving in a crowded parking lot more of a hassle. My wife can't drive it without stalling :p but once you get used to it, you can manage. That said, my Fidanza was a beautiful piece but if I could do it all over again, I would have opted for the Streetlite.

I voted for Fidanza simply because I have one and I love it. I was going to get the ACT but they took too long to intoduce it. They said it would be out in the spring and spring came and they said not until fall or winter (this was like 1-2 years ago). I said screw it and bought a Fidanza. My car is a daily driver and it is very easy to drive at any speed. It took me about one afternoon to get used to it. I recommend Fidanza but I'm sure you'd be happy with either one. :thumb:

Although I do believe that they are from the same company. ACT is really a fidanza. I had an 8.5 lbs flywheel on my B18/B16, and it was nice--but I wish I went with an Aluminum 6 pound fidanza flywheel. They are just very well made, and light as $hit. If one were to knife a the crankshaft, as well as get titanium rods, and couple it all with a 6lbs flywheel, the engine would be able to throw RPM's oh-so-nicly. (I'd look almost like a motorcycle tach! j/k)

Bumping will get your post locked.

That being said, I LOVE my Fidanza wheel. It's rough when you're doing like 5MPH, but other than that it's absolutely beautiful.

I have the XACT flywheel and think it is the best for any street/strip application. Stock I believe is 19lbs., RRE lightened is 14lbs, XACT is 11.5lbs and Fidanza is 9lbs.

It looks to be of solid construction, frees up a good chunk of rotational mass and won't be as much of a bicth to drive in traffic. Responsivness is fantastic, great for your modded but street driven DSM. :thumb:

I like the act streetlite aswell. It has done well for me.

It is also one of the ONLY drag rated flywheels. It is within spec, that is until the first resurface is done. I do not believe the Fidanza is legal for anything running quicker than 11.99.

2.1 CLUTCH, FLYWHEEL, FLYWHEEL SHIELD

Flywheel and clutch meeting minimum SFI Spec 1.1 or 1.2 (2-disc maximum) and flywheel shield meeting SFI Spec 6.1, 6.2 or 6.3 minimum mandatory in any car running 11.99 (*7.49) or quicker. Cars with rotary engines running 11.99 (*7.49) or quicker must be equipped with a flywheel shield made of 1/4-inch (6.35 mm) minimum thickness steel plate surrounding the bell housing 360 degrees. See General Regulations 2.3, 2.5, 2.6, 2.10.

After doing a lot of research they seem to be comparable, so I'd go with the slightly cheaper Fidanza. They are also SFI approved.

actually the act is cheaper...

You can get a Fidanza for less than 200 bucks. I haven't been able to find an ACT for less than 220.

please tell me where i can find the fidanza for less than 200...ill give you a cookie...

ACT XACT flywheel here. Also I've heard that even though you can continually resurface the Fidanza flywheels, it's never as good as when it's first used and it can actually hinder performance...so what's the point?

there's a guy on ebay selling fidanza's for $194

total come out to about $220 with tax since i'm in florida and shipping. it arrived in 2 days and is amazing.

Oh and the Fidanzas have replaceable friction surfaces. instead of having it turned you just bolt on a new face.

Fidanza and ACT are two different companies.

Fidanza flywheel is around 9 lbs, aluminum, with steel friction surface attached by fasteners. ACT StreetLite flywheel is around 11 lbs, Chromoly steel.

I have the ACT StreetLite. The ONLY thing that I'm somewhat disliking is shifting action/feel with this flywheel. RPMs fall much faster than stock. RPMs would fall even faster with Fidanza flywheel.

I say go for ACT StreetLite flywheel. No friction surfaces to detach, you can machine it possibly few times and it stores enough inertia to be more streetable than Fidanza flywheel.

i would stay away from fidanza. alum is not the best meterial to use for a flywheel. it heats up to much. once alum gets heated it loses its strengh. also it distorts at high revs, thats why you hear about all of the people the have the crankshaft bolts coming loose on them. in my mind the act is the way to go.

The Fidanza stores plenty of inertia to be streetable. Think about it. There is only a 2lb. difference between the two. 2lb. is NOT going to make a difference in drivability. I've been driving on my Fidanza for 2 summers now and it's been great. I'm just tired of people flaming on the Fidanza because it's 2lbs. lighter, when they've never even used it. IMO, those flywheels are equal in every way and I would use whichever is cheaper.
