where to tap oil feed for turbo? head or pump

I'm just curious , where is it better to inject oil to a turbo through the head or pump. If through the pump, then how and what would I need to do this? Thanks.

1gs come stock with the oil feed coming from the head, 2gs have it coming from the oil filter housing.

I prefer the oil filter housing as its cleaner oil than that coming from the head. Most turbo manufacturers will tell you to feed it from the oil filter housing or it will void the warrenty.

Its better if its from the oil filter housing, as the oil has been just filtered. You'd need a SS feed line, most vendors sell them.

Edit: I didn't realize 2g's already had it coming from the housing. LUCKY.

If you have a ball bearing turbo you will want to run an inline filter if you go from the filter housing as the oil pressure is to high if you don't.

Yes. And most MHI (Mitsu turbo) center housings seam to operate better (no oil blowing by the seals) with a line tapped from the head where there is less pressure. A t25 is a Garrett and needs the higher pressure for longevity. That's why it is tapped at the filter housing where more pressure is present.

If you go with any other turbo other than MHI, I would always run a line from the filter housing. and add restrictions as needed to bring the pressure down to optimum (most pressure you can have without blowing oil by the seals).
