Where to put external wastegate?!?!?

I was planning on putting it on the number 1 runner but two exhaust shops said thats a big nono because no one welds on cast iron because it will crack. Where else can i put it??

On a 1992?
Get a 2g manifold with the weld already welded onto it for the wastegate.
Or you could get a tubular exhaust manifold...

Or you could get an o2 housing that has a spot for the external: example

You can weld onto the exhaust manifold, but its tricky. You need to constantly heat up the cast iron manifold so it won't crack and use nickel rods for welding. Find someone who is a really good welder and they can put the wastegate on your manifodl so you dont have to buy a new one.

my o2 housing has two pipes, one coming from the internal wastegate and one coming from the exhaust wheel. should i get them to chop off the tube coming the internal gate, weld the flange there and seal the other end of the tube that connects to the o2 housing? ill have pics up in a few minutes
