To help you with your issue, it appears that there are two ways of handling the issue of a bad voltage regulator in a 2G 420A car. First is to replace the ECU (PCM). The other is to purchase an external regulator and install it which in turn bypasses the internal regulator; all in all a much more cost effective solution. Unfortunately I don't know the details on something like that, but here are a couple threads I found for you:

Any parts store normally has a cable replacement kit. Just make sure to brush off the battery terminals and tighten everything down really well.

yeah A universal kit. Most auto parts only sell those universal wires; your fine with those as long as you get some that are the same length or really close to it. You don't want to get some that are too long and not too thin.

Hmmm I would have guess that 420 eclipses have a regulator integrated into the alternator. I guess I learned something new today LOL.

I haven't tried cables, yet. I am waiting on my check but I will soon.
So i have to buy a new ECU?
I went to advance and they had a voltage regulator for $150, is that what is in the ECU?

you're not reading. how do your battery cables look? are the terminals corroded at all? are they tight? check the OTHER end of the battery cables also. make sure they are clean and nice and tight also. advance sells battery cables with ends already on them in 4 gauge wire (atleast my store does), which should be equivalent or damn close to what is already there. measure where you would need the new cable to go, that is the length you're looking for.

and p.s. - having "fun" with being reported or warned will be fun until you get suspended :)

You obviously didn't look at the links I posted last time so I'm done helping you. Good luck with your issues.

ok kool
that fine with me not like you was even helping :f-u:
that one guy didn't even have the same problem as me

i haven't really got to look at the other ends but the ends on my battery have new terminals when i got the new battery
oh and i just noticed i left something out
but it doesn't happen often and its been awhile since it happened
but ill be driving and for a second it would act like it lost power and then my check engine light and battery light go off then the check engine light comes one than a few seconds later the battery light comes back on

LOL so what if they suspend me ill make another account
its not like i have only one email address
I'm not trying to be a ass on here but some people just need to be slapped :shhh:

We have tools in place to track this and if you do, both accounts will be banned. Easy as that. Keep your smart ass comments to yourself and enjoy your vacation. Hopefully when you come back you'll realize you can't get away with anything on here. No, we don't try to be dicks about things like grammar and spelling, but when you blatantly ignore our requests to improve, then things start to happen.

I was really confused when I first looked at this post as I was having the same exact problem with the same exact car, a '96 RS. Autozone tested my battery while running and said that the voltage regulator was bad. My stepdad had called a mitsubishi dealer mechanic and they said it was in the alternator. I ended up having to take it to a mechanic and they just replaced the alternator and its fuse. So I don't know which ones have it in the ECU, but all I know is that the 1996 RS 420a has the voltage regulator in the alternator.
