I havent seen a recent post on this and the search function for me is not working so I apologize if this has been covered recently.

I am prepping, sanding, and repainting my front 2G bumper and I was just wondering those of you that have done this or any car painting before on their DSMs, Where did you buy your paint?

I am looking for enough, maybe a half-gallon or so to re-finish my front bumper in Magenta Grey Pearl (A87). I am also looking for affordable clearcoat that is REAL clear coat not duplicolor junk.

Anyone that can link me a website they ordered for professional (affordable) paint please let me know, or give me any suggestions.

THANKS :thumb:

I spoke with John at B&L Auto Paint and got some prices for you. He gave me the prices below for one gallon of paint. You can reach him at extension 112 if you would like to speak to him. They have the paint in stock ready to be mixed.

if you are only refinishing the front bumper cover you only need a pint of color!!!!!!! do not waste your money buying a gallon that will go bad sitting in your garage!!! with one pint of color when you reduce it to spray it you will end up with a quart of sprayable paint!!!! I painted my whole body kit with only one quart of paint!!!! if you have a napa close by you an get your paint from them. it is martin senior and it is great paint!! wyotech uses it for there courses! hope this helps!! again do not buy a gallon of color!!! buy a pint and then reduce it to sprayable from there!! I also do not recomend buying it in sprayable form(already reduced) reduce it your self and spray away!!! good luck! if you need any more help you can pm me. I attended wyotech for collision/refinishing after working in body shops for 6 yrs!! I am a welder/fabricator now but can still paint like a pro. and i stay pretty current with it cause i got alot of friends who crash there drift cars and need me to paint them all the time.

dude you do not need a gallon of paint for your bumper. a quart to two is more than enough to paint a bumper.

Thanks for the input guys. Im not sure what you mean when you say "reduce it to spray" i just assume thats code for "loading it into a spray gun" hehe. I am looking for a paint sprayer now, i know I have a couple friends who have one just waiting for them to call me back.

I will probably just get a Pint of quality paint then considering the surface area.

paint comes in the can as just the base color and tints that it takes to get the right color. there are very minimal solvents in it at that stage. it is way thicker than you need it to be to properly have it come out of a decent spray gun. you need to use reducer to thin it to a sprayable consistancy!!!!! go to your nearest napa or paint supply store and pick there brain before you ever pic up a spray gun. not saying at all that you are stupid but painting car parts when you dont understand reducer much less how much paint it will take or anything else to do with the process means you are going to cost yourself more money and more money by not doing it right the first time. i recommend you go to napa or advance auto or somewhere that has how to automotive books and buy a book that is specific to painting or refinishing cars!!!! this will save you hundreds of dollars will save you from having a shitty paint job that you have to respray and will save you major headaches!!!! by a book before you touch a spray gun!!!!! and even before you think about buying supplies!!!!!! trust me ive had to respray for alot of people and when you have to strip someone elses work then refinish it its not fun!!! and i charge way more to do that than to do it right the first time!!!

pm me and i will help you further if you want to do it totally right the first time. by the way I painted my eclipse with only one and a half quarts of color that reduced came out to being 3 quarts of sprayable paint.
